Turkey concerned over Xinjiang incidents

Turkey has said in a statement that it is concerned over recent incidents in China’s restive Xinjiang region that has left several dead, calling to bring criminals before justice.




The Friday’s statement came days after a trio of recent attacks blamed on militants among Xinjiang’s native Turkic Muslim Uighur population opposed to heavy-handed Chinese rule. At least three dozen people, including the alleged attackers, were killed in the attacks in the cities of Hotan and Kashgar, which came just ahead of the start of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

Uighurs are culturally, linguistically and religiously distinct from China's Han ethnic majority, and share many links with ethnic Turks in Central Asia and Anatolia.

The Foreign Ministry statement said Turkey attaches importance to security, stability and peace of people in Xinjiang, whom the statement said Turkey considers as “friendship bridge” with China.

The latest major anti-Chinese riot in Urumqi was two years ago in which at least 197 people were killed, hundreds arrested, and scores left missing. The unrest also caused relations between Turkey and China to get worsened after Turkey’s leadership strongly criticized China.

Is this a pan turkism or a Pan Islamic feeling ? I understand the Hui Muslims are china's most loyal Muslim and have no problems with them, this issue is not about Islam, but Separatism Turkic Separatism.

Erdogan must watch himself. Recently, there has been some warmth in Turk-Chinese relationship. If this continues, then it is most likely that Turkey will be left neither this side nor that side, especially after the cold blows that have been exchanged with NATO and USA recently. While empathy is fine and acceptable, it must be drawn in consideration to the situation at hand in foreign affairs.

While Turkey is rising in economic and regional profile, I doubt much can be done when the entire Central Asia prefers to be Russian bastion including its richest and most powerful one, Kazakhstan. Even though USSR has gone from the map, Russia still is too influential, controls the CAR economies and pretty much everything in the region.

And about Chinese, I don't need to say more than what I said above. No one in their right mind would be crazy enough to militarily steal the Dragon's property from its mouth.

You could try Iran though but that too would be unlikely as Erdogan prefers closer ties to Iran than expand the Turan ideology.

Turkey will serve itself well if they don't poke into the affairs of other countries. They have threatened neighboring Syria with war, gone against the Russian-backed Armenians over the Nogorno-Karabag conflict, angered Israel with the Flotilla incident, a long-standing conflict with Greece over Cyprus, have the Kurdish separatist movement in their eastern region and now taking on China. Turkey has made good progress economically, but these external distractions can cause severe damage to Turkey's future.

yes... yes it is! we are totally against islam and religion we want to abolish them and we are the puppys of usa. we do whatever they ask us to do and we lick their boots. we supply so much against libya and we bomb the cra* out of libya, the same goes for Afghanistan, we are allways on daily missions to kill innocent civilians and shout out about it, the same applies for syria. we want to kill as much syrians as possible

and a little note, you forgot to mention that we are anti-palestine to, since we have had relations with israel.
