Turkey has said in a statement that it is concerned over recent incidents in China’s restive Xinjiang region that has left several dead, calling to bring criminals before justice.

The Friday’s statement came days after a trio of recent attacks blamed on militants among Xinjiang’s native Turkic Muslim Uighur population opposed to heavy-handed Chinese rule. At least three dozen people, including the alleged attackers, were killed in the attacks in the cities of Hotan and Kashgar, which came just ahead of the start of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

Uighurs are culturally, linguistically and religiously distinct from China's Han ethnic majority, and share many links with ethnic Turks in Central Asia and Anatolia.

The Foreign Ministry statement said Turkey attaches importance to security, stability and peace of people in Xinjiang, whom the statement said Turkey considers as “friendship bridge” with China.

The latest major anti-Chinese riot in Urumqi was two years ago in which at least 197 people were killed, hundreds arrested, and scores left missing. The unrest also caused relations between Turkey and China to get worsened after Turkey’s leadership strongly criticized China.

Is this a pan turkism or a Pan Islamic feeling ? I understand the Hui Muslims are china's most loyal Muslim and have no problems with them, this issue is not about Islam, but Separatism Turkic Separatism.

it is nothing to do with Islam especially
if you know the history of turk influence you would have the answer
they do well in central asia influence...

Erdogan must watch himself. Recently, there has been some warmth in Turk-Chinese relationship. If this continues, then it is most likely that Turkey will be left neither this side nor that side, especially after the cold blows that have been exchanged with NATO and USA recently. While empathy is fine and acceptable, it must be drawn in consideration to the situation at hand in foreign affairs.

Isn't this the fabled Turan nation's map? I once googled and got this picture. Ya know, to get that sort of empire, you will have to fight with Iranians, Russians and Chinese simultaneously. That would be a military suicide.

Pan-Turkism mixed with Islam is a pretty Powerful force in Turkey today, Turkey probably doesn't want a Turkic empire, but would like influence over them

While Turkey is rising in economic and regional profile, I doubt much can be done when the entire Central Asia prefers to be Russian bastion including its richest and most powerful one, Kazakhstan. Even though USSR has gone from the map, Russia still is too influential, controls the CAR economies and pretty much everything in the region.

And about Chinese, I don't need to say more than what I said above. No one in their right mind would be crazy enough to militarily steal the Dragon's property from its mouth.

You could try Iran though but that too would be unlikely as Erdogan prefers closer ties to Iran than expand the Turan ideology.

Nonsense. Isn't this same country supply to help West/NATO against Muslims countries (i.e. Libya illegally) and deploy in Afghanistan next to Pakistan, next Syria...Xinjiang incident is none of their business, hyprocisy Turkish.

Hypocrisy i think - China could do the same

China has said in a statement that it is concerned over recent incidents in Turkey’s restive Kurdish region that has left several dead, calling to bring criminals before justice.

The Friday’s statement came days after a trio of recent attacks blamed on militants among Kurdish’s native Kurdish population opposed to heavy-handed Turkish rule.

Turkey will serve itself well if they don't poke into the affairs of other countries. They have threatened neighboring Syria with war, gone against the Russian-backed Armenians over the Nogorno-Karabag conflict, angered Israel with the Flotilla incident, a long-standing conflict with Greece over Cyprus, have the Kurdish separatist movement in their eastern region and now taking on China. Turkey has made good progress economically, but these external distractions can cause severe damage to Turkey's future.

these clashes are mainly on ethnic basis. Becoz Turkiç and ughiur muslim want a seprete country on the name of Turkiçtan or Turkistan. While Han and ethnic chinese muslims are against it.
