Turkey accuses France of genocide in Algeria

Armenians were treated as second class citizens just like East Pakistan. The Ottomans did commit a genocide and denying it makes it much worse.

NO...

armenians unlike ottoman Turks had the best places and had high status in the empire! they had everything they wanted, even governmental power. everything they wanted our goverment gave them. and then some separatists come here and talk about "greater Armenia" and then they suddenly change side!

do some research before talking. our different minorities where good treated under the ottoman empire, unlike other European empires. why do you think even Christians flew from Europe and settled down in a Muslim nation?

And look where both are today? Armenians insignificant and slapped around by Azerbaijan, and Bangladesh insignificant and slapped around by India. That is the fate of traitors.
I have zero knowledge in Turk-Armenia matter, but as you included Bangladesh in it you should edit it ... lo take my pakistani friend's statement reading in Bangladesh ' Bangladeshis live much much better today than pakistanis in terms of safety and peace'

To be honest the time when the Armenians revolted the Ottoman empire was already crumbling and it was inevitable.

i call it coward backstabbers. now keep ur bs to urself like razpak said.

backstabbers? East Pakistan won the election fair and square. West Pakistan rejected the election and chose to slaughter it's own people. If anything you guys are the back stabbers.

Bernard-Henri Lévy > Appel pour le « respect » du génocide arménien (JDD, 31/12/2011, texte co-signé par Charles Aznavour, Robert Guédiguian, Serge Klarsfeld, Bernard-Henri Lévy, Michel Onfray, Erol Özkoray)
Bernard Henri Levy, the French philosoph, who played a very important role in the war in Libya, is asking Europe to making a statement to condemn people who would deny the word Genocide.
People who signed are Aznavour (famous singer and very kind person very popular here), Michel Onfray (an Islamophob philosopher), Serge Klarsfeld ( the one who worked to find the nazis who involved in shoah, even if he signed this document without knowing Turkey i should say by reading and hearing him, he is a very good person (not like his son pro Sarkozy)) and many Armenian personalities

So it means next step: Europe.

France recognised the Armenian genocide in 2001, now after ten years it has made it illegal even to discuss and debate wether a genocide has taken place. Why did it wait a century to do so?
I think this is a perfect example of playing petty politics to save his waning popularity and his sinking presidential bid. France has seen the worst economic collapse under his leadership and scoring points on the armenian genocide, he believes will give him a leg up.

The Turks protested the 2001 recognition but did not do anything else. That was reasonable and both sides should place their arguments and see both sides of the story. Now when France makes it illegal to even deny that a genocide ever took place, how can a reasonable debate take place? This a very illiberal approach to history and an attack on the freedom of speech where it matters most.

If a country wants to truly address historical wrongs, then it should begin by recognising the wrongs done by itself first. For example, Germany has accepted and provided compensation over 80 years to Jews as a result of the holocaust. Australia has recognised and apoligised to the Aboriginal people for the extermination of its people and confiscation of its land. Even the US has recognised the native American population and the wrong doings done to them.

So France should begin by the atrocities committed by it under its Colonial occupation where millions were killed systematically in Algeria and in Vietnam which later resulted in the US-Vietnam war where chemical and biological weapons were used. By recognising and providing compensation to the victims of French actions, then it could claim a moral ground on talking to others about their actions.

Agreed French drank Algerian blood and did Nuclear tests on some island belonging to people who now complain of nuclear radiation related illness , and they recently kicked out Gypsies and Roma people (Genocide and holucaust on these poor people) of indian heritage
