TUNISIA

Tunisia and Morocco are 1 and 3 on the " To Visit " list.

Hopefully this winter I can visit Tunisia.

What is the best time to visit ? and what are the main attraction ?

^^

Hammanet, has exquisite bath houses, open air markets, and quite a few buildings wich hold historical significance. Or if you are into scuba diving and love the beach, then look no futher than Djerba, the mythic home of the lotus eaters (an Oddyssey reference). its usually really hot there but being a Pakistani i guess you'll probably scoff at the insinuation. The food is great and the people are friendly and to top it off its a fairly secular country and you get to see people of different faiths coexisting quite harmoniously.

I been to Sfax,Tunis and sousse..
I liked the Mint tea people drink there..Maqhee as the place is called..and the big boiler with tons of green mint inside makes very good tea..I tried to make it at home but couldn't...
I have been to the desert of Tunisia..Cant remember where.. But there was a restaurant in the desert..in the middle of nowhere..selling some kind of Roasted Goat meat..and it was probably the best i ever had..

when i was in Tunis,i went for Friday prayer in a very large mosque...The people there told me that Tunisian Government does not allow any more construction of Mosques..Is that true?
in the old time ( old president that we kick ) he was against building mosques and even going to it , he was putting a secret police to get the names of who enter the mosque secretly , but now all of that no longer works because we have a unitary gov from 1 islamic party called Nahdha and 2 non Islamic
