TTP Sympathizers in the Military??

Of course there are sympathizers for the TTP in the military. Some of their attacks can only be achieved if they have a mole on the inside helping them, but it doesn't matter because those fools are not long for this world.

Exactly the reason why USA didn't tell Pakistan on the location of Osama bin Laden.

. .
A nice way to play a trick & a nice try to fool Pak Army & the Intelligence Agencies. We already know our Pak Army & the Intelligence Agencies are been targeted very nicely by the media & to make things worse TTP is trying to spread a new scripted lie which has been scripted by the US, we know who TTP works for & there should be no doubt in any bodies mind that anything that comes from TTP is coming for US directly, there should be no surprise & to post these kind of news is useless.

What we also need to understand over here is that there is absolutely no connection between TTP & Haqqani & there is no connection of TTP with Taliban in Afghanistan who are fighting the corrupt regime & the occupiers, this is just a mind game that US is trying to play with Pak Army & the Intelligence Agencies because Pak Army does not want to launch an operation in NWA. What we also don’t know is what kind of meeting took place between DG ISI Gen. Islam & CIA Chief Gen. Patreus because there has been no official statement by the ISPR so far. what I feel here is there was a very heated up meeting between the two this is only my assumption, why I feel like this is because soon after his visit things started to get bad for Pakistan & the relationship between the 2 countries is once again going in the wrong direction & the credit alone goes to the US for this because we know that unstable Pakistan is in the interest of US, NATO, India & Israel.

Worse has been planned for Pakistan by the US & her allies & I believe Pakistan Army & the Intelligence Agencies are ready for it (I pray the internal threat which is from Zardari is also been monitored properly)

And is this your personal assessment? And in such a case, who may you be? Air-marshal, JCOSC, Admiral or just plain old simpleton four star General?

Whenever making such sweeping statements, please state your "privileged" position, which gives you a right to do so.

the ex airforce and army personnel are just one example. the arrests of PN personnel after the Mehran base attack yet another.
the ones who made assassination attempts on Gen Musharraf..... the list goes on.

military personnel are not imported from Holy land of Hijaz ... why some of us are still unable to accept this possibility? its good that military leadership is under no illusions and such people are constantly hunted even if they are some how sympathetic to HT or JuD etc..

1. Well, only people on this forum and my grand-dad (maybe)
2. Well, I say, too little too late. What do you say? OR Maybe an apt example would be "Der aye, durust aye"? (This is dependent on an individuals PoV.)
3. Well, not exactly...

I do know for a fact that our *intelligence* is still teeming with, let me put it mildly, people brought-up in with the old school of thought. Yes, I agree they are slowly being demoted and purged, yet, still a more expedited approach is needed.

Interesting point. What options can the military realistically use as an expedited approach?

DAWN

WITH the rise of militancy in the country over the last decade, no branch of the armed forces has been spared from militant attacks. The navy’s Mehran base in Karachi was stormed last year, while militants attacked GHQ in Rawalpindi in 2009. Most recently, Pakistan Air Force’s complex at Kamra was targeted last month. In the latest incident on Wednesday, at least 10 people were killed when a car bomb went off on Peshawar’s Kohat Road; police believe the target was a PAF vehicle en route to a nearby base. According to some reports, the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan have claimed responsibility. Apart from Kamra, which has come under attack four times since 2007, the PAF has also been targeted on other occasions. Some of the more prominent incidents include a suicide attack on an air force bus in Sargodha in 2007 while another attack was on a bus in Peshawar in 2008. Many of these attacks were claimed by militant groups, and in several cases ex-servicemen were implicated.

These repeated incidents point to the apparent vulnerability of the forces, particularly the air force. They indicate that inside information is being passed on to militants, especially regarding the movement of personnel and base security details. The assertion that the forces in general and PAF specifically have extremists within the ranks must not be disregarded. Several PAF personnel were involved in an assassination attempt on former military ruler Gen Pervez Musharraf in 2003. A number of these individuals were dismissed or arrested due to links with militant groups. It is also true that in several incidents the assailants have been dressed in military uniforms. Thus in the wake of the Kamra affair a thorough internal investigation is in order.

Meanwhile, the PAF must ascertain how much influence militants wield within the ranks. Clearly, preventive security in its current form has not deterred the militants. What is needed — in all the armed services — is not only greater scrutiny but a purge of all those sympathising with the militants and who are likely to pass on inside information to militants. Otherwise, such attacks will continue.

soldiers have seen fellow soldiers killed or injured in the fight against TTP; to think TTP has sympathisers in Army is beyond ridiculous

makes for a better masala movie or a tabloid headline

it's like saying does FARC have sympathisers in Columbian military; do communist naxals have sympathy inside indian military etc.

a weak, failed attempt and another example of media peddling garbage --to discredit and try to undermine military of Pakistan

you do make valid points; but that's what the spooks are there for

any signs of hardline political or religious or other views would be noted and action would be taken

suffice to say, Mehran/Kamra type attacks were security failures which must never repeat
