What's new

TTP fighters infiltrate into Chitral and attempt to seize villages/posts 6/9/23

.
Latest is more than a dozen terrorists dead, 40 injured. Own four Shaheed so far.
The only way the debt can be repaid by the decades of terrorism and namak harami committed by Afghans is by taking their natural resources by force.

If you're going to be corrupt, then be competent and pragmatic at it. Fix your economy and get a rare resource by taking their lithium and gold reserves somehow.

Militarise the region on a counter-terrorism pretext and set up extraction plants as reimbursement.

It will back fire at world stage and create more problems in tribal areas..

Since Pakistan was backing Taliban even going against the USA after 2001
Pakistan backing Afghan Taliban, while India/USA was fully supporting TTP... Right now TTP is attacking using the Kunar, so Pakistan can easily hit them in Kunar.

.
That's been ongoings since the 1940s

The afghans have been trying this for decades and decades,, they attacked numerous times throughout the 40s, 50s, 60s etc

What do you think the Afghan Republic was trying to do when it invited the likes of Dawar, Wazir , pashteens and khattak etc to Kabul?

The fall of the Afghan Republic meant the rug was pulled from underneath the plans of the Afghan nationalists

The Taliban option regardless of what happens is better, the TTP is a physical enemy we can target and the option they give to the Afghan wannabes is not a attractive or enticing one as opposed to what the Afghan Republic was offering ie a viable state
Afghans are doing it from last many centuries, they were invaders and hero of Pakistanis .Ghauri , Ghaznavi , Abdali , Babar , Nadir shah and now Taliban all looted punjab . They are your hero , enjoy the deeds of heroes . Do not forget to name another missile as "Osama bin laden " .

the war was started by taking dollars from america and helping one afghan group against another , Now Taliban will attack Pakistan nobody will come to rescue . Fight afghan taliban is the only option .

So what I don't understand, What is TTP wants to achieve ?

They call it Jihad
What Ghazni , Ghauri , Abdali , Nadir shah wanted ? Invade, loot , subdue , kill and rule over the land they overrun . Save yourself from your heroes Taliban .
Abdali was great warrior who used to loot you for which bulle shah said "khata pita lahe da , baki Ahmad shahe da " you named a missile Abdali ? Now name another in name of mulla Umar .

That's the problem... sorry, you still don't know, where is the actual problem... still, busy with blaming others
So you are telling me India never supported TTP/BLA ? TTP operating from Afghanistan since Mid 2000's, Indians were running many consulates in Afghanistan for Chai Paratha ? America at one point control most of Afghanistan, while TTP easily cross border into Afghanistan after Attacking Pakistan, My disagreements with PA is valid, but that does not deny the fact that Americans/Indians have completely supported TTP and their operations to keep Pakistan engage in a low intensity warfare. In this war no one can be trusted, no matter how much you (Indians) or Americans wants to play the Angel, reality is that TTP/BLA was operating/Getting funds from USA/India.

20 years this has been going on for. 20 years. We all know the solution. Deport the refugees and tactical nuke Kunar, Paktia and Khost. Poison the water, nightly drone strikes, bomb the schools, hospitals, block medical supplies and food, and drive this barbarian horde back to kabul.
Considering the persistent threat (and mass unemployment) what’s stopping the deployment of 200,000 troops/paramilitaries (from the local population) along the border fence (assuming the fence has been finally completed)

What are the state of the “Fortifications” along the border that these miscreants could enter the country?

Yes.

Drop a biological weapon on them, some kind of disease, and destroy all their critical infrastructure, end of story.
If we say things like this and then hope to complete the Trans-Afghan railway, it’s counter productive.

Don’t let the miscreants undermine your national objectives. Treat it like a sector problem. Fortify the sector and plug the gaps, physical and in the population, in a legal and local led manner. Address any underlining issues (especially by holding democratic elections) that might allow these miscreants from gaining local support.

For the past attacks in DI Khan, the usual attacks on police stations on Peshawar outskirts, Bannu etc., do we know if those terrorists operated locally or did they travel across the border before or after the attack?
Without local support, getting close to target while armed, well versed in plan, rested and motivated is not easy.

Imagine it’s a one way trip, one last mission, no one would go in half hearted or tired or exhausted.

In this case, TTP said they will attack and they did so army was prepared and on alert. So is this an intel success ? Is this a successful defensive mission ? Does this show that heli QRF is effective ? Does SSG need to be called in every time everywhere ?

Pk mentioned drones and lots of dead TTP - bottom line, PA was prepared.

However consider this, how do you define success of a mission ? Lesser number killed than enemy ? Strategic goals met over long term ? Killing of a leader ? Not taking any damage ? Or just a successful mission which meets its aims ?

What if one lucky shot of RPG had killed 6 soldiers while only two terrorists would be killed and rest ran away ? After all, they didn’t capture any land neither destroyed an important installation like dam, air base, parliament etc.

What are the metrics of success ?

Why do you think TTP threatened to attack Chitral ? They gave a heads up to GOP before the attack.

Secondly, why did they attack the border posts ? They could have infiltrated through other means. Their comrades could have commuted into Chitral from southern KPK under guises and could have created chaos inside Chitral before the actual attack began on border posts. Does that really mean that military had succeeding against the local TTP assets inside Pakistan to a large extent - which is what ISPR hinted at. I mean if Chitral is so important then go in with all force and cover all flanks for success.

Thirdly, the locals say TTP has made nests above hill from where they fire into the valley of Chitral. That’s target practice for ATGM, mortar and howitzers - stationary targets.

Fourthly, what do you think was the point of this attack ? What if they killed 20 soldiers ? Did they want to capture border posts ? Then set up their own posts ? That meant they expected local population to understand this land is theirs just like swat was once. That mentality isn’t going away that they own swathes of land in Pakistan to exercise their Version of sharia law.
