Looking at the previous American strategies, where direct target always remained muslims and their states.The worst thought comes to mind, they may ask Pakistan to give some port aginst Iran, and that would be a doomsday for gawader, the favourite focus of America.
That would nail Pakistan China and Russia altogether, giving new life to dying America.

The US is going to impose even more sanctions... and not only to Iran but to whoever deal with Iran...Be it Russia or China...
Meaning RU/CN is out of the equation... except for some secret deals... But big military equipment is a no-no...

If no military op happen in the meantime... US main strategy is to push Iran to it's economical end... in hope to push the pop to revolt against it's gov... A simple regime change...

Iran doesn't need to fall and I don't think the US intends Iran to fall. Iran acts as a useful counterbalance against Sunnis in the region which is probably why US turned a blind eye towards Iran after Iraq war. Taking out Iran means handing over the region to Sunni extremists who in turn will be even bigger threat to Western interests in the region. Having Iran and Sunnis be busy with each other and not letting one party becomes too powerful should be the ideal US policy.
