President Trump on Thursday threatened to hit China with tariffs on "at least" another $300 billion worth of Chinese goods, escalating tensions between the world's two largest economies.

"Our talks with China - a lot of interesting things are happening. We'll see what happens," Trump told reporters in Ireland before departing for a ceremony marking the 75th anniversary of D-Day in Normandy, France.

"In the meantime, we're getting 25 percent on $250 billion, and I can go up another at least $300 billion," he added. "And I'll do that at the right time."

A Slower Economy. A Trade War. Now, China Faces Rising Food Prices

“It’s not a strictly economic issue,” Mr. Broadman said. “It’s a political economy issue.”

Online, discontent is rising. A survey on China’s biggest social media platform by Phoenix Finance asked people to pick an explanation for the sudden surge in fruit prices. The choices did not include a rise in overall inflation, so people added that in their comments.

“These four options are just trying to smooth things over,” one person wrote. “It’s obviously inflation.”

Other online wags focused on new guidelines from China’s nutrition association, which said individuals should eat at least 500 grams of vegetables and 250 grams of fruit each day.

“I can’t afford eating now,” said one commenter. “Fruit is as expensive as gold.”

trump is convincing the Chinese to not ever want import goods from Amerika, for it takes a cold individual like trump to foil international trade, better to have lasting trade with the world, and not trade, especially food and critical imports from Amerika.

China requires a new global supply chain for critical goods, that are not imported from unstable hostile regimes such as Washington.

Get to work on dumping US treasuries too. Chinese foreign reserves need to be liquid, not treasuries stuck in non-reserve banks.
