It's actually 3 times smaller in purely numerical terms but the gap is even more gigantic when it comes to modern hardware such as air defence or air force assets. It all comes to the fact that Romania went through a disarmament process after 1989 while Greece kept the arms race with Turkey.

Yes, Russia is an existential threat .I don'the even know how to call the disarmament process that we went through, as money were not used to create a flourishing economy _see the lost decade of 1990-2000",they cut whole factories,brand new planes (IAR 93),etc,and generally pulverised the whole defence industry which costed billions of dollars in licences and RD. Now they seek to start a new. ..more like pushed from behind by the US, if you ask me.If it were up to the political class they would still throw money on "social "programs ment to secure reelection and not sustainable growth or security.

I still remember Nokia desperate attempts to come up with their own version of iOS after Apple dropped iPhone bomb early 2007. Only one who could compete with them was google, another American company. Same is going to happen with cars. Linux hardly have any share in PC market.

The Crimea region and Ukraine aren't Europe to begin with. Ukraine has more in common with Russia than it will ever have with Europe/US. It is the backyard of Russia and Ukraine and Russia are like inseparable brothers. Culturally, linguistically, geographically and historically Russia and Ukraine are like twin brothers. It is simply not true when Europe/US claim that Russia is interfering with European security by annexing Crimea or interfering in Ukraine. We can have a theological debate regarding the annexation of Crimea, but calling it blunt interference with Europe isn't accurate.

The reason why US/Europe fear Russia stems from the Cold War era animosity. US/Europe thought to have defeated Communism after the end of the Cold War. Little did they realize that removing the Berlin Wall and "winning" the Cold War wouldn't mean the end of Russia. The truth is that Russia is resurgent. Under Putin's leadership Russia is finding its lost glory. It is no little feat when you have a major world power accusing Russia for its involvement in hacking the elections. It is a lousy admission that the old foe has the upper hand.

You accuse Russia and Putin of a whole host of things. Some of them might even be true, but the other side of the truth is that Europe/US can also be accused of similar behavior vis a vis Russia and other nations around the world. The whole world is witness to the bitter history between the West and Russia. In this atmosphere of bitterness and hostility both sides are bound to accuse each other of foul play and return the favor on many levels. Let's call a spade a spade here.

Where did I say something like WW2 would happen? I was saying that Donnie is simply destroying American leadership in the world which was built on hard work. In the coming years we will see the so-called American exceptionalism going out of the window and other powers like EU take a more assertive stance.
