Trump wants troops in Afghanistan home by Christmas

The US should just unilaterally withdraw its troops and let the chips fall where they may. It's obvious the Taliban are going to end up in control in Kabul in the end, so why continue to play the game.

Time for Pakistan to settle the civil war once and for all in Afghanistan. We cannot allow this travesty to continue. Peace must prevail for regional stability, even if it means supporting one side or the other. I am sure the US army would have aptly supplied it's friends and allies in Kabul to ensure they continue fighting and one side is not strong enough to end the conflict and civil war. That's exactly what was done in Syria and would have happened in Iraq if the Iranians hadn't stepped in.

Looks like Biden is saying the US has no responsibility who comes to power in Kabul.

As the recent war between Azerbaijan and Armenia has shown, what could have been achieved more amicably at the negotiating table, was instead hashed out on the battlefield in six weeks when one side refused to negotiate in good faith, and now the ground realities post hostilities have dictated the final outcome.

Let it be a warning to all nations who poodle to the US that you will be used, abused and ditched by the USA.

Yeah, it seems like, Republican or Democratic, it doesn’t matter. Fortunately for Pakistan it has finally accepted that it has to standup for itself because no one else will. Now all parties in Pakistan need to come to the same realization so the nation can close ranks and move on, as a United front, when dealing with the world.

Biden has a tough road ahead of him, trying to rebuild American alliances and trust after 4 years of “America first”.

America squandered the peace dividend after the Cold War and took away the wrong lessons ever since winning the gulf war, about conflict resolution in the Middle East.

The last 20 years of wars have been destructive for all involved and has left open the path for China to fill the void.

If Biden doesn’t try to rectify this mindset in the US, “Democracy itself will be on the ballot” globally, as the era of zero sum isolationism will be vindicated as the more stable option for development and security.

(A global economic development plan to challenge OBOR would the key method to gain back American global influence, but doubtful the short sighted Congress would be willing to think that far ahead)
