No, it is not media tone reporting, but clear judgement and opinion from Indonesian delegation that was invited by Chinese government. There is no rebellion in Xin Jiang like in Papua or Turkey Kurdish region. Even Indonesia never make any pressure to Papuan just like what Chinese do to Uigyur despite rebellion is much greater in Papuan region. Papuan are free to practice their religion which is Christian despite there is correlation between Christian Papuan to tendency to rebellion. One of China's major problems is that it pushes a homogeneous identity too hard and cannot tolerate true cultural diversity and this has been even more pronounced under Xi's administration. However, part of this is also due to the immense pressure the US is placing against China through shadow wars, the support of Uighur terrorist groups, HK protests, etc. that makes the Chinese govt. overly paranoid.

With that said, compare China's treatment of Muslims to India's. While on the surface, China excessively trespasses against the political rights of Uighurs, on the other hand, they also provide economic development and general stability for the majority of law abiding Uighurs. On the other hand, India does allow free speech but it has also enacted martial law in Kashmir and allowed for excessive hate speech and pogroms against Muslims which has resulted in untold death and barbarism in the most chaotic way. Of course, India is not persecuted by the global media because India is friendly to the West and is an impoverished country and not a threat. China is a massive threat because it is developing very quickly and needs to be brought down. So as you can see, the reporting and portrayal of events is very politically oriented regardless of whether China is guilty of abusing Uighur political rights, which it is.

Also, what I find really disgusting about Trump's behavior is that he actually hates Muslims. He promoted immense ignorance and hatred of Muslims during his run for presidency and promoted it afterwards in his policies. He's also been the most harmful president to the Palestinian cause. Not to mention the US has killed far more Muslims than the US, numbers in the millions. So cases like this where he feigns concerns for Muslims in order to attack China is just another example of complete hypocrisy. It's like if the KKK passed legislation against China for the eviction of Black people in Guangzhou. There is no doubt what China has done should be condemned but the fact that it is being passed by the worst perpetrator just makes any thinking person want to throw up.
