It's still there. Alive and kicking. In UP and Bihar, it's more caste than communal. Though I admit it's been 28 years I've been away ...
True, but that doesn't consolidates Hindu votes. As people are getting more and more educated there thought process is also evolving and they do not consider being Hindu as their actual identity but being an Indian is. This is very much true in already urbanised social segment not so much on those still getting urbanised.each year in India, as more people get educated and urbanized who don't consider caste as their defining identity(not saying irrelevant, but just not the central one),
It's still there. Alive and kicking.
Been there, felt it and I hated it

Hard decisions are taken because they are needed. They are not taken because of vote banks politics. Also, these decision will hit the party who is ruling at the time because they are not populist decisions. I am merely saying weighing every decision through vote bank politics prism is not good even.Fair enough.
On my part, with demonetization, I strongly suspect the BJP has orchestrated the biggest loot in the history of Independent India.
But that's not why I will vote against them.
I genuinely believe they are doing permanent irreparable damage to the secular fabric of our society. And India will change for the worse permanently should they be allowed to consolidate and hold on to power.
Cheers, Doc
The 6% refers to non Hindu non Muslim Indians. We are there too ...
The 14% is Muslims.
And Hindus approximately 80%. Actually for the first time they've dipped below 80 ...
Of that too, 16.6% are Dalits, and 8.6% are Adivasis.
Of the rest, the BJP will still have to crack Maharashtra and the Southern states. The North Eastern states.
Politics is always about vote banks.
The Americans use the word "constituencies" ... the meaning and dynamics are much the same.
In a population, people move in groups. You cannot cater to 1 billion people individually. You try and cater to the maximum number of groups, so that you win and get a chance to (hopefully) serve the people.
You balance what one group wants versus what another group absolutely doesn't want versus what other groups may or may not want or can or cannot live with. And push an agenda.
I see nothing bad or unnatural about vote bank politics.

Well your fears might be justified you being a minority can't take that right away from you, but I believe what we are witnessing is Hindus fighting back for their rights. Bogey of Hindu terrorism raised by UPA was a breaking point, and BJP grabbed this opportunity with both hands. This one issue will haunt opposition forever, i believe this insult to Hindus will never be forgotten.I genuinely believe they are doing permanent irreparable damage to the secular fabric of our society. No all of em, here it seems like they are in majority but they simply aren't and I was pointing at the younger generation.Actually, the most vocal and sometimes most rabid Hindutvawadis are middle to upper middle class educated white collar urban Indians, and more so expat Indians and NRIs.
Cheers, Doc
Justice Khehar is just an assole.. another justice katju in the making.. Justice Nazir is simply islamist/.. he is doing his duty to be faithfool and defend repressive islamic traditions.
Khehar stuck down petition for daily hearing on Temple issue citing lack of urgency.. And at the same time ordered daily hearing on babri demolition case.. as if now he had all the free time in the world to deliberate upon it. #assole

Justice Nazeer is one of the only 3 judges elevated directly to SC before becoming chief justice of a high court.Justice Khehar is just an assole.. another justice katju in the making..
