He is more educated, more learned and more experienced than you and me....most of his posts are believable and not many to Indians for the obvious reasons.

And he has been called out & exposed by Indians themselves- I have seen that several times during my 6 year long stay here.

Anyway you didn't explain how Karachi can have 2.1 million cars in 2011 when total number of 4 wheelers in Pakistan was 3.09 million.

Why it can't be...Karachi contributes about 22 percent in GDP to Pakistan and about 70 percent in taxes, all kind to Pak exchequer, only recently in the last 10 years or so Punjab, Lahore, Isb has seen a mushrooming growth, and that old stats you quoted is not believable now.

quote:
Mumbai increased its vehicular population by 1.7 lakh in 2013-14, which is 44,000 vehicles more than what was added in the previous financial year. The total number of vehicles in the city is now 23.3 lakh, a 55% increase in seven years, according to data released by the transport department on Thursday.

According to study of Asian Development Bank nearly 35% of Pakistan's economy is undocumented and thus does not figure in your 'hard data' whereas in India just over 20% is undocumented. Thus the data you describe as 'hard' is anything but hard. Rather it is 'fuzzy data' and does not reflect the reality on the street. Which is why you have people in India being used as tied animals to pull things. such a sight is rare to non existent in Pakistan.

Stop ruining the one feel good thread they've had in a long time with the truth.

Also, you must debate using opinions, pictures, photoshop, videos and NOT facts/realities.
Thanks

Genius, the 3.09 million figure for Pakistan in 2011 is for 4 wheelers which includes light trucks as well.

So the number of cars in rest of Pakistan - including Lahore, Islamabad & everywhere else basically wouldn't even cross half a million...

You still believe that data ?

Mumbai increased its vehicular population by 1.7 lakh in 2013-14, which is 44,000 vehicles more than what was added in the previous financial year.

3.2 million now

Total number of cars on the road in Pakistan is somewhere near 4-5 million.

So everyday we are reminded that India is -

  • Trillion dolla economy
  • 5th largest economy
  • Mumbai has bigger GDP apparently then all of Pakistan
  • that India is roaring while Pakistan is failing
  • that India is drowning in success and Pakistan is wallowing in failure

So let's look beyond the numbers and boasting. Indian Punjab is adjacent to Pakistani Punjab and is one of India's more prosperous states. Many Sikhs from this state live abroad in USA or UK or Canada. Amritsar in Indian Punjab is only about 20 miles from Lahore in Pakistani Punjab. Both cities are Punjabi speaking with shared history but a international border running in the middle. It is important to note that Sikhs of Amritsar, Indian Punjab are considered as a wealthy community relative to rest of India.

So I thought it would be interesting to see what Amritsar in trillion dolla India looks like. Are the streets lined in gold? Is it land of milk and honey? What is it like across the border? I would ask Pakistani's who live in Lahore or the adjoining Pakistan Punjab to look at this and contribute by comparing Pakistan Punjab with trillion Dolla Indian Punjab. For a lay observor what caught my eye besides the filth was the number of man powered rickshaws. I have never seen rickshaw pullers in Pakistan. Indeed I think it is against the law since 1952. But in one of India's most prosperous states man powered rickshaws are everywhere which raises the question of how cheap Indian labour is in that it can compete against motor rickshaws. So here is how the trillion dolla India looks just across the border of failed Pakistan.

The Sikh women interestingly almost wear the same Shalwar Kameez as in Pakistan which is not a surprise.

Awww feel good thread, it's very funny to see a T T trolling, opening troll thread day by day.. I agree we have lot of issues in our cities and we are progressing gradually... sooner or later we definitely over come these problems.. these issues don't go just like that.. it takes time, on other side before mocking India look at your own mess.. your pm knocking doors for bailout package to run a state... yet you are trying to troll us funny... yeah we have 1.3 billion, still we have larger economy with better growth.. we are working to lift our poor... just get rid off your mentality...

3.2 million now for Mumbai all vehicles, Karachi had about 3.32 million in the year 2011, all vehicles....anyways it doesn't takes a genius to figure out why Mumbai has lower number of cars and Karachi has higher number of cars.

Still clutching straws...

How reliable is this data when it says that nearly 70% for all private cars in Pakistan are in Karachi ?

Well it is a mystery even for ur own parliamentarians.

The Sindh Assembly was on Monday informed that over 91,000 cars were registered in Karachi during 2014 and 2015 compared to only 19 vehicles registered in other parts of the province during the two-year period.

It seems all of Sindh registering their cars in Karachi and the figures for Karachi , isn't for the city alone , but includes cars from other regions of Sindh too . @gslv mk3

Asian development bank or Pakistan bank?

As believable as the stats of 70 percent tax collection from Karachi for the country.

And that was 2011 figure, dynamics have changed over the years, huge population growth in Rawalpindi/Bahria Town, about 1 lac vehicles registered in one year only in Rawalpindi. Lahore population has increased to 12 million with many suburban areas added, Faisalabad has a population of 5.5 million.

Actually Karachi has witnessed a decline in population growth in the last 10 years...people migrating to Punjab towns, many industries moving to Faisalabad and Lahore from Karachi, in the last 12 years other areas has witnessed an increase in cars and bike sales than in Karachi...

This discussion will continue, on and on. And it's waste of time citing figures, after figures when those figures are only good as the collection and accuracy. Hard data about Pakistan does not exist. All we have is fuzzy data. For instance whole of Balochistan is full of smuggled petrol and vehicles from Iran. Many of the items on sale in K-Pk are smuggled again as many Pakistani's will know. In this envoronment where so much of the ecnomy is undocumented it becomes silly to compare with stats. About 65% of economy of Pakistan is undocumented compared to nearly 80% in India. Therefor how can we have hard data? At best this is 'soft data' if not fuzzy data.

However I think over the next few years under Finance Minister Asad Umar we are going to see a drive to bring all the cheaters in the net. As that happens the statistics will begin to reflect a more accurate picture. But peole can stick their noses into numbers but ignore what their eyes see. As they say 'seeing is believing'. I would encourage people to go to youtube and just randomly take a look at your average Indian town in the trillion dolla Gangadesh. You will be sickened by the filth and poverty on display. And it's there just 5 miles across the border. Even the Sikhs who I have enormous respect for, are forced to earn bread by being tethered as slaves to rickshaws.

Trillion dolla India

such rickshaws were seen only in West Bengal and also Bangladesh , a south east Asian relic .

They aren't seen in any other parts of India ever .
Even in west Bengal they are a rarity these days .
