Trade gap with India reaches $5.47 billion

Do you have any example so far of a country whose economy has been boosted by Chinese so called Development HELP. I have examples like Sri Lanka, Cambodia and African nations as examples to my argument. Besides read this

https://www.khaleejtimes.com/editorials-columns/are-more-nations-falling-into-chinas-debt-trap

Chinese model as understood by me is I will build a house for you in your land--> With my own Material---> and manpower--> when it's buld you have to pay back the cost of building it with interest (high) and if you couldn't---> it will keep house and give you some rent (that too decided by me)

This is the gamble Both the Government of Pakistan and the Chinese are taking. I don't have any examples where this has worked. The Pakistan government is probably thinking China will write some of these loans off, for favors or "services rendered" (same old ways). I have the same understanding of the Chinese development model. I hope reforms accompany these investments to attract FDI and build on the CPEC infrastructure, failure would have ripple affects beyond just Pakistan.

BD traditionally has a much bigger trade deficit with China
the current situation with India is mostly because of higher than normal rice imports

True. He's gonna cherry-pick India. But in a sense he's right too. A lot of things imported from India can perhaps be made in Bangladesh.

A senior minister of the government has viewed that the trade deficit with India can be reduced significantly if the neighbouring country removes the existing trade barrier on Bangladeshi products.

"Bangladesh has huge trade deficit with India, as the export of Bangladeshi products is not being possible as per expectation due to non and para tariff complexities in India," said Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed.

The minister said this while addressing 'Horasis Asia Meeting' at a hotel in Kolkata as the chief guest on Monday.

Switzerland-based organisation Horasis organised the meeting in cooperation with the West Bengal Government and Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), says BSS citing an official release.

Tofail said Bangladesh is developing 100 Special Economic Zones (SEZs) where each country would get a separate zone.

"Investors from different countries have moved forward with investment as the government has announced special facilities for the investors," said Tofail.

He said foreign investors could take back the investment with profit anytime and the government has secured the interest of investors by enacting laws.

Myanmar's Mandalay Region Chief Minister Zaw Myint and ICC President Shashwat Goenka, among others, also spoke in the meeting with Horasis President Frank Jurger Richter in the chair.

Indians asking US and EU subsidize fall out for indian trade barriers. This is just epic. indian education system gone fully in al cowda path.

Do you even know what you are talking about ??? LOL :p:

Read ALL comments carefully before opening your mouth.
There is nothing illegal about putting trade barriers. If you have any dispute with it, contact WTO.

BD imports a lot of raw materials and machinery from India. If you want parity with it, make something India can't. Why should we import clothes from you at the cost of our own domestic industry?

with indian stooge regime in power that is not an option BUT Bangladeshi business and people should know the real face of india.

Who are you to pronounce orders ?? Mar-papa of PDF ??? :p:

If India (and China) is trying to protect and contest WTO farm and agriculture subsidy agreement, it is not for us alone rather all the developing nations which include some LDC's in our immediate neighborhood. Even if you are not thankful, do care to read about the same and it's implications on your country rather making negative comments against anything and everything due to your sheer hatred. :disagree::disagree::disagree:

With your logic I think the current regime are stooge's of China rather than India, since BD has the highest trade deficit with them. India is only second to China. FYI, BD had trade deficit with over 70 countries. So why alone blame India if your commerce is not efficient enough ????? LOL :lol::lol:

Excerpt from the above;

According to the statistics placed by the minister in the House, Bangladesh has the highest trade deficit of US$ 6881.47 million with China, while the second highest of US$ 3998.16 million with India and the third highest of US$ 1575.21 with Singapore.

India textile exports could be soon competitive in western markets as soon as Bangladesh LDC quota expires and new package of textile producers gets going and even compete with Pakistan textile exports even though they GSP+ quota & under Modi ji India is getting on path of export oriented economy .

Well, the difference is Bangladesh's export to China is increasing at a rapid pace, so we can expect the deficit to reduce in the coming years.

Bangladesh's export to China increases 23 per cent this fiscal

But export to India is stagnating or decreasing, mainly because of the tariff and non-tariff barriers India imposes on Bangladesh.

No, either you are completely unaware or you are trying to hide the facts.

For the same period you have quoted the Chinese exports, BD's export to India also increased. Moreover, After India granted duty free quota free access to Bangladesh in 2011, the RMG exports to India have more than doubled to $136.4 million in 2015-16 from $55 million in 2011-12. In 2015-16, Bangladesh’s RMG exports to India grew by 31 percent. Bangladesh’s overall exports to India have also increased by 30.82 percent at the same time.

So you guy's blindly claiming that India is creating barrier is nothing but blatant lie. :(
