At least they are talking. As long as the talks don't focus only on terrorism inside India, which clearly they haven't, things look positive.
Regardless of what they say outside the doors, at least inside they are speaking about the issues. And Kashmir was discussed "briefly" is as big a piece of bullsh*t as I've heard in my entire life. Kashmir would have occupied, at the very least, a third of the talks. Otherwise the Pakistani delegation would have refused to continue the shambolic "talks about talks". To save face, they had to say it was discussed "briefly", otherwise their media would have burnt them aline.
Its a matter of perspective. I agree that the statement "Kashmir was discussed "briefly" is as big a piece of bullsh*t as I've heard in my entire life". My perspective though is..
Kashmir would have not occupied more than a minute of the whole day. Otherwise the Indian delegation would have refused to continue the shambolic "talks about talks". To save Pakistani delegation from being burnt alive by Pakistani media, they had to say it was discussed "briefly"..
see....
In absence of any credible joint statement, one can twist it the way one wants to see it...
The fact that they've decided to meet means they've reaches some sort of preliminary decision that satisfies both parties. We've already won the big battle, we got them to the table, getting them to talk about all the issues should be easy.
In my opinion the 1st bold statement above is a huge overestimation of achievements and second is equally huge exercise in over confidence if you mean all issues to include redrawing of Kashmir boundaries..
