Addition of vowels
Main article: Greek alphabet
In the 9th century BC, the Greeks adapted the Phoenician script for use in their own language. The phonetic structure of the Greek language created too many ambiguities when the vowels went unrepresented, so the script was modified. They did not need letters for the guttural sounds represented by aleph, he, heth or ayin, so these symbols were assigned vocalic values. The letters waw and yod were also used. The Greek alphabet thus became the world's first to have symbols representing vowel sounds.

There are two main collating sequences for the Arabic alphabet, abjad and hija.

The original abjadī order (أَبْجَدِي), used for lettering, derives from the order of the Phoenician alphabet, and is therefore similar to the order of other Phoenician-derived alphabets, such as the Hebrew alphabet. In this order, letters are also used as numbers. This is called Abjad numerals and it possesses the same alphanumeric code/cipher as Hebrew gematria and Greek isopsephy.

The fact that Urdu still has words with sanskrit origins means there was no purge, you would think the Pakistani government of all people would have made sure that sanskrit words were weeded out considering their insecurity. The Urdu you see today is what is has always been, so then what separates Hindustani from Urdu because afaik the language the Mughals adopted they referred to as Zuban Urdu unless they were just calling Hindustani Urdu which means Urdu and Hindustani have no difference? Umm you are assuming they all used different scripts can you show me proof of written Urdu in a script other than the one we know today?

Nagri was known to have been used for Prakrit and Sanskrit.

Without the Sanskrit root words there can be no Urdu . Hindustani is a dialect of khari boli and it was not as persianized as Urdu spoken in Pakistan today, what is spoken today in the Awadh region can be said close to Hindustani.

Devanagri was earlier called Nagri , its more or less same. One can write any language in Nagri or devanagri script.

You are stupid I already explained when I said Islamic influence I meant in the South Asian context meaning whatever foreigners namely in this case the Muslim dynasties added to the language of the people they ruled over. Which in this case includes numerous loanwords, religious terminology, and scripts.

Blah blah blah South Asia, you are a south asian and not an arab even if you are an Arab, this language has nothing to do with Islam!

Genius, the Phoenician alphabet and language itself is an Semitic language. As is Arabic. The Phoenician Arabic influenced almost every language of the ancient world and alphabet. Anyway it has nothing to do with Greeks.

I had the pleasure to encounter this @Screambowl and it's fair to say that he knows nothing about the Arab world or the Middle East.

He probably things that all those many native and ancient civilizations that are found in what is now the Arab world were Farsi, Greek or Roman despite predating all 3 with many thousands of years in some cases.

Any person knows that it's Arabic language that has heavily influenced both spoken and especially written Farsi (after all the Perso-Arabic scripture only differs from the Arabic scripture by 4 new additions only) etc. Not only that but languages such as Spanish and Portuguese have up to 20-25% of their vocabulary originating from Arabic.

Seriously PDF needs more Pakistani moderators who can handle all the trolls. PDF is WAY to lenient on all the trolls of which many are Indian.

I simply can't imagine Jews for instance or Iranians being allowed to troll that much on international Arabic forums. Or vice versa. I just can't.

Even banning them just leads to them making multiple suicide accounts so it is pretty pointless lol.

Phoenician alphabet - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Phoenician alphabet, called by convention the Proto-Canaanite alphabet for inscriptions older than around 1200 BCE, is the oldest verified consonantal alphabet, or abjad.[1] It was used for the writing of Phoenician, a Northern Semitic language, used by the civilization of Phoenicia. It is classified as an abjad because it records only consonantal sounds (matres lectionis were used for some vowels in certain late varieties).

What has this to do with Greeks? It's the Phoenicians who influenced Greek language and the Greek alphabet like every other ancient alphabet of that time. Not the other way around.

Likewise the Aramaic language/alphabet is a fellow Semitic language that influenced all later Semitic languages including Arabic itself. Did you know that Aramaic was the lingua franca of large parts of Arabic for centuries?

Why don't you research such topics before spreading nonsense?

Anyway what has all this to do with the topic?

You got video of Urdu spoken in Awadh so I can see how much I understand?

what does this has to do with Islam?

Why are you still barking? Persian, Turkish, and Arabic in South Asia have to do with Islam because the Muslims introduced these languages to the region hence you can call it Islamic influence on South Asia. It is just a general term to explain the history to duffers like you.

The topic was Islamic supermacy , and I proved that Islam is not a way of living not a culture just a belief. Arab culture, arabic language has nothing to do with Islam. They had spoken arabi before Islam.

Arabi itself is a mixture of armaic , egyptian and greek vowels and script. Not a product of Muslims.
