Actually it doesnt state that....it just says cover yourselves...
You know some of Pakistanis here are being too nice to you to not call you a hidden Jihadist !! I have seen @Hyperion taking such people to the cleaners and humiliate them on this forum for far less transgression. You are a girl, and even I respect your POV but you get too damn defensive on such stupid things. Loosen up a bit and relax. Religion is not everything to live for .

.
Sorry we let your father in. Time to go back to Saudi Arabia. We are not comfortable with you. Please remember here you were not allowed in but If you were a Christian in Pakistan, you would be accused of blasphemy and shot by the prison guard.

Lo
"B-but I'm not comfortable looking at you!"
To finish it off,
"B-be happy you weren't shot dead in P-Pakistan!"

Keep comparing the UK with Pakistan.

Interpretations are different but these are the 2 reasons, Niqab/Hijab is in place today so it is religious obligation, may be made up by some.
It is true these 2 verses are used...BUT more often than not people rely on the Hadith to push the practice!

.
UK is a mix of cultures, halfwit.
I've been in the West long enough to see a variety of cultures. I've seen different people with different dresses and beliefs.
so..do i ..u idiot....but i do not flaunt my religious beliefs on someone's face...this problem is only with muslims...go to arabia..

Tonnes of people wear their religious clothing. Here in Canada, I see Sikhs wearing Turbans strolling outside and when I go to Toronto, I've seen loads of Jews with that outfit they have. I'm sure there are dozens of other different religious garments and symbols out there but not as prominent as what I've seen here.

Hijab is covering the head, Niqab is covering the head. The former is required in Islam, the latter isn't.
And I agree on that part, Hijab can't be considered as Identity or Security risk so If anyone refuses then I agree with you. I will protest in support for Hijab. But Niqab is not religious obligation and girl is thrown out for Niqab.

.
What??? You should do that, my religion and my conscience forbids it so I can't, but you go ahead.
Off topic, trolling and brainless accusations, all at the same time!
Unless it's sarcasm, in that case I'm fine with it (though thats some really horrible sarcasm right there)
It was sarcasm and I agree its not in good taste, but you do have to agree that this whole veil thing is blown out of proportion.

If that was supposed to be offensive I am not offended at all...for me the word if derived from the root word Jihad to mean to strive for than I am very well striving for something

But I know it is a corrupted form of the word for people who have nothing to say and use it loosely!

Somethings might be stupid for you but not the other...

Like for some saying anything against India, Modi, Hinduism and secular India makes them defensive enough to call backup...

But god forbid someone gives importance to something you give none to?

hahaha...a wise man once said...Better an autist than a terrorist...
i dont see hindus, jews or sikhs throwing tantrums like what is going on here...think and repent on what u have done to this world..

After a long we are on same page.. Good ! :)
I have a huge problem with hypocrisy and saying something and behaving in another manner...

West IS liberal and would like to leave it that way instead of it showing signs of intolerance like that of some countries....

.
Sorry about that then...

Stop swinging the extreme swings and throwing in every word media tells you...do you know what jyzia is? or was that thrown in to hint your ignorance on the subject?

As for the 4 women ....many countries threw it out but media repeats it for its own purposes...I can even quote a lawyer from Harvard backing the shariah and she is not even Muslim....I have posted that article here numerous times coz people from their lack of information just throw in what the media feeds them....

A person's choice does not equal to SHARIAH FOR UK it does however fit in with the definition of accepting DIFFERENCE which = to liberal and tolerance

While the Saudi also claim to fit in the norms of their society = cover up!

So how is Saudi NOT liberal and termed intolerant?

Pry do tell me the difference? When you do it, it is liberal and tolerance when the same is done in another country it gets the opposite definition?

THAT is exactly what is happening and it is not even those using it are moaning but those oppressing out of shear fear due to what media feeds them...Mind you I aint the only one who found this offensive and really a hypocrisy act:

More than 700 people have signed a "Stop the Islamophobia" petition in protest at the school’s stance. The petition at change.org, started by an anonymous protester, claims the 16-year-old was allowed to sit exams this summer wearing the veil, and that former pupils have been allowed to wear the niqab. It states: “This school is renowned for its ‘individuality’ and ‘strong feminist views’. However, this poorly thought out decision made by the school contradicts this. What happened to ‘freedom of expression’?”

One of those to have signed the petition, Farhana Khanom, commented on the website: “I went to Camden school for girls and many girls wore veils and were allowed to do so. This school had a reputation. And now discriminating [against] people that made their own choice to wear what they feel is utterly disgusting.”

Another signatory, Cabrini Cotter-Boston, posted online: “This decision has set them back decades. It’s disgusting that Camden teaches us as young women to empower ourselves, and to push the boundaries set by society, yet they themselves are taking away a young girl’s education because of her choice in clothing.”

Camden School for Girls bans 16-year-old Muslim student from taking A-levels until she removes niqab - Education News - Education - The Independent

I didnt compare it was your Indians who brought in Saudi REPEATEDLY...

and even you did so! Its easy to throw the blame on someone else but difficult to take responsibility!

I only asked if you think you are different than Saudi (after it was dragged in along with Pakistan) than show the difference!

That is clear injustice...when an Indian Male uses the word slut it is fine and goes unquestioned, unchallenged... but god forbid a Muslim woman uses that word? Drag it all over the thread!

You may need to define it to me...Because apparently the definition I google up do not fit what you people present!

Mon ami Talon, I do not care about the rabid indienne troll parceque they are rabidly islamophobic. However you are a sane person with critical thinking well beyond most and yet you defend the symbol of niqab in today's concept. However this discussion is fruitless for all of us unless we know your position on secularism for the sake of topic at hand before we discuss multiculturalism or other values.

Why not as it seems that Pakistan is where the majority believe in the rule of the gun to kill minorities.

http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2014/sep/26/family-man-shot-pakistan-appeals-david-Cameron

The family of a mentally ill Edinburgh man shot in a Pakistan prison have appealed to David Cameron to intervene in their father’s case.
Mohammad Asghar, 70, who was sentenced to death for blasphemy in January after writing letters claiming to be from the prophet Muhammad, was allegedly shot in the back by a prison guard at Adiala prison in Rawalpindi on Thursday morning. He remains in intensive care and his family believe that the next 48 hours will be critical to his personal safety

Yeah, I agree, this issue shouldn't have been made so big. They should have done what schools do and talk to the parents, or compromise and let her in or make her compromise to stop wearing the veil and stick with only headscarf.

This incident isn't so big for all the media coverage its getting

.
yet you defend the symbol of niqab in today's concept.
What is wrong with it? As long as no one is forced and practices it out of own will....

No one questions the Sikh turban nor the Jewish Kippah but god forbid a woman makes a choice on her own accord? Is this a new form of controlling women? Not allowing them freedom to even choose what they want?

People cry about 7th to 14th century stuff but forget it was cavemen who were naked....

And gowns which were popular in Victorian times are worn on "special" occasions....yet no one's jaw drops open at 15th century display of elegance (yup that is what it is called elegant)....

we know your position on secularism for the sake of topic at hand before we discuss multiculturalism or other values.

What does my position have to do with anything? I already answered it btw....I requested a definition of the word coz the definitions I know dont seem to be in play...
