There is a very curious thing about the West, when it looks to the world, it does not want to see the world, it wants to see a reflection of itself - if there is success, then it must look like it in the West --- and with China, well, the West does not see itself reflected - it sees another civilization, another history, another peoples, it see a narrative in which the West is not the ideal -- these things scare the West.
The truth is, American values, has so much to offer. But, don't you think it would of been much better, if, there was less use of force?
I disagree. Theres no other worse misconception than this. There are many countries which are different from what the west generally subscribes. Japan, India, Pakistan, African nations, many South American nations. The problems here is not of identity, but of intentions. China has always supported pariah nations against the west. Be it North Korea, the NVA/Viet Cong, the autocratic genocidal regimes of certain African nations. Along with this is China's rapid militarization with the secretive purpose of countering US/Western military dominance. The scary part is actually the rapid militarization without a clearly defined objective coupled with random vague noises of countering US navy in the Pacific, increasing talk of racial superiority and supporting pariah nations. Now where have we seen this before?
Now where have we seen this before?
The US too has supported autocratic regimes/rebels in Pakistan, Nicaragua, Chile, South Korea, Cuba.... So that argument does not hold.
Just another "prediction" of China's doom.

The west and Japan built colonies on Chinese soil.... Macua, Hong Kong, Manchuria, Nanking.
Why was mainland China sidelined in favor of Taiwan in the UN
Chinese people have for too long been humiliated at the hands of west and Japan. It will be only natural to build a military to counter the west so history is not repeated again.
Seriously CD, do you have comprehension problems? Where did I ever even imply 'doomsday scenario'?

You do have a point.
Then please elaborate "where we have seen this before":
And whether it was successful or it was doomed?
so in your view of the world, which countries are the Brahmans, which are the Kshatriyas, and which are the Pariahs? care to explain your international caste system to the rest of us?
Your country is superior to? Other countries is the pariah state? Keep your sense of superiority, you are nothing, you're a poor ant. What are the present threats to China which would justify its rapid militarization on such a huge scale? What are the real intentions of trying to counter US forces in the Pacific when they are not gearing up to attack China? Why support pariah nations whose intentions are suspect, both in the UN and militarily? Why roll out a red carpet to a convicted murderer, a genocidal head of state of Sudan? Why support Pakistan in its nuclear ambitions when its proliferation record is out there in the open. Why support the Myanmar Junta (actually even India does it)? Why support and protect the NK despots? There are a lot of questions on China's conduct but noone here is talking about a doomsday scenario for China.
