Tokyo Olympic 2021: Discussion and Update

Well probably the most useless games in Human history are taking place in Japan right now. Empty stadiums and pathetic TV ratings makes these Olympics less attractive than an episode of Sponge Bob Square Pants.

$20b spent for the most boring game event ever
People elsewhere die of infection if not by hunger and starvation.
Shameless
It’s good Vietnam cancels the Asian game.

Live at this moment (Badminton) : Chen Long (China) vs Raul Must (Estonia)
Chen Long mastering the field, making his estonian opponent exhausted. Meanwhile, he is so relax 😂

Hopefully, someone upload the video of match soon

Yup we still have strong team, but we used to have balance team of men and women while this Olympic we are only eligible to send one female single while the other players points could be affected after British makes us cannot play in Wimbledon using Covid as reason.

The last strong female single in Indonesia is Bellatrix Manuputty, but she gets injured 2 times and the second time makes her cannot compete any more, after her no other cant match her, but I hope the youngest who had won Junior World Championship can bring back our glory in female single competition.

Belatrix Manuputty

She is already struggling with injuries when she dealt with one of strongest badminton players in India (look her knees)

Talking about current event

The strongest one I think in men double where the best and second best in the world are all Indonesian (based on current rank). They were against England.

Second best we call them daddies as they have already had kids and already quite old. They were against South Korea.

We also send 2 men singles , 1 women double, and 1 mix double. IMO Indonesia has potency to get 2 Gold Medals from Badminton but lets see what will happen eventually.
Yeah, I guessed so. Your previous reply made it look like Indonesia only has an outside chance in Women's singles. and no chances in Men's singles and the doubles events. The Asian teams have always dominated badminton so this isn't surprising. Expecting 2 golds in badminton is still a dream for India. In the last Olympics, it was only Sindhu who managed a silver.

And like you mentioned injuries for some of your players, it's the same on the Indian side. Saina had a slew of injuries which meant she couldn't qualify while Srikanth has always been an inconsistent player.

Bad day for India today and yesterday as our top shooters (men and women) had a disastrous outing. Only 1 among them could qualify for the final round and he just finished 7th. Just to give you a perspective, Abhishek Verma is ranked 1st and Saurabh Chaudhary is the only Indian to have won a gold medal in ISSF World Championship, ISSF World Cup, Youth Olympic Games, Asian Games and Asian Air Gun Championship. And yet none of them could get a medal in the individual events yesterday. Our athletes still can't handle pressure and I think now we also need to invest more on the psychological and mental side of things. This is a repeating occurrence of our athletes during the main event...
Mix team (Archery). South Korea gets Gold Medal.

Final ranking: Mixed team
  1. KOR flag
    Korea
  2. NED flag
    Netherlands
  3. MEX flag
    Mexico
  4. TUR flag
    Turkey
  5. FRA flag
    France
  6. IND flag
    India
  7. INA flag
    Indonesia
  8. GBR flag
    Great Britain
I saw the quarter final game of India yesterday where we lost against Korea. Now, it doesn't feel as bad as we lost against a team that went on to get the gold but also it wasn't completely unexpected. Korea has always done well in archery.

If we give good incentive to our athlete, I believe we will be able to compete better in Olympic. I suggest for Indonesia to have insurance for athlete that is supported by government, so they dont need to be worry if their prime is last.

Yep, Asia second best 100 meter hurdles sprinter from Indonesia cant also perform due to injury. She is still young despite it will still be very difficult to compete US, African and European sprinter.

For me as Basketball fans ( and former player), I would be very happy if Indonesia can send its 3x3 male and female basketball team in next Olympic in USA. These female team is very promising as they are young, the oldest is 22 years old and I see Ayu has the ability to play in WNBA or European women league.......

The female team is 15 best in the world

Look like it is very upsetting for Indian fans to not have Sindhu compete in Tokyo Olympic, even Myanmar women single can compete in Olympic despite she was lost from Indonesian single, Gregoria

China's "Dream Team" diving squad launched their bid for a golden sweep at the Tokyo Olympics with a dominant victory in the women's synchronised 3m springboard final on Sunday.

Shi Tingmao, gold medallist in the event at Rio 2016, and Wang Han had been hot favourites on day one of diving at the coronavirus-delayed Games.

And the duo did not disappoint, leading from the first round on the way to taking the title with 326.40 points.

Canada's Jennifer Abel and Melissa Citrini-Beaulieu won silver (300.78 points), with Germany's Lena Hentschel and Tina Punzel earning bronze (284.97 points).

It continues a strong start to these Games for China, who enjoyed golden success on Saturday in shooting, fencing and weightlifting.

China underlined their vast supremacy in diving by winning seven of eight golds in Rio - Britain surprisingly nabbed the other.

But there are high hopes back home that the Chinese can go one better in the Japanese capital. (AFP)

Chinese volleyball team lost to Turkey in straight sets ....
The pressure of expectations got to them I guess.
A necessary wake up call ,they were kind of out of it, since they were so dominant coming into the Olympics. The upset of the day I guess.
******
And Korea winning archery is like China winning in diving, natural like breathing.
