If it was just trainer aircraft the list would be much longer. Places like Venezuela also import the Pak/China Karakoram K-8 trainer.

And Inshallah soon - 4++ Gen combat aircraft. We fulfill our own needs and increase our combat aircraft inventory to deter India, and secondly, China's WS-13A has to be prepared. Both these things are coming along nicely.

China has been flying the FC-1/JF-17 PT-04 as a testbed, with the WS-13 engine and it all feels like it's very close to coming true. Their PLAAF has already "blessed" the aircraft, having cleared and certified that the aircraft's design meets PLAAF requirements.

And the second factor - Pakistan having to fulfill it's own requirements - second squadron is ready and production on the first block is nearing an end. After the second block (or JF-17 NG as some people have been saying it might be called) is done and Pakistan has over a hundred JF-17s in service, I think the Airforce would be more open to beginning production for foreign nations.

In a way, it's a good thing, because this would mean JF-17 customers would fly with WS-13s, and it would prevent Russia from having the strategic advantage of being able to "throttle" JF-17s by blocking spares on the engine.

I, for one, can't wait for that to be added to our export list.
