Tk.1,330/ton Transit Fee Proposed for Indian Goods

Thats what you keep telling to yourself, that we are begging for transit, I mean if it helps you sleep at night:lol:

As I said rail lines are not efficient enough at this stage, a lot of rail lines are single track and metre gauge as opposed to the prevalent broad gauge of the Indian Railways. Refer to my last post, work is going on to improve the efficiency of this rail network. Once done, India won't be needing any transit from Bangladesh. Not that it does even now, but since we have a favorable government in Bangladesh, might as well.

As your own infrastructure is in shambles because your poor country has shortage of funds, so, instead of building up the infra why are you trying to open a CREDIT LINE to us to buy your goods that we will use to build our infra for your use? We have money to build our own infra. Don't push all these unnecessary and unpopular things through Hasina's throat that hard. She will certainly lose the next election only due to India's mishandling of her govt.

.
Thats your opinion but not the stand of your government or the business people who need that. Just talk to your NE government and the people there and they will say differently. Ofcourse main land Indians wants it without the transit but cost of doing business for NE people will be drastically reduced through the transit of BD. Its not only mainland goods getting carried to the NE but NE can independently import and export their product with the outer world which they cant now as they have to go through calcutta port half the world away from their home.

And how exactly do you know all this. I listed all the projects being undertaken in NER. If India was going to use Bangladesh transit, why would they bother with all this. :what: Bangladesh is not as important as you guys make it out to be.

Its not in shambles, its just not adequate enough. Lets just say Hindu Baniyas are doing what they do best, being Loan Sharks:tongue: And no you do not have enough money to build your own infrastructure.

You still need all those project as goods still need to be transported within NE. We will be only responsible up to our border.
Bangladesh did not go to India to make herself important rather its your country coming to us for all these things. Its just common sense. Even Bhutan and Nepal far away from BD still eager to use our ports. There must be a reason when they are currently using your Calcutta port. Why wold they come to us? Its all about economical benifits.

What infrastructure you talking about? Padma bridge 3.5 billion dollar? Dhaka-Chittagong elevated expressway 4 billion dollar? Can you afford to pay for those when you also will be using them. These are just two projects I mentioned only to show the grandiose of projects undertaken by BD government. You still could not build a single bridge over the Bhramaputra river remember that.

Once again, only for the time being. Because states like Tripura aren't connected to the main trunk network of Indian Railways. Once that is achieved goods can be transported to and forth from Tripura efficiently and cheaply. Go through the maps i posted on the second page, and go through the ongoing rail projects. As far as ports are concerned, new ports are coming up in West Bengal and Orrisa, as well as modernization of and expansion of existing smaller ports. Not to forget Sittwe Port in Myanmar, which is being constructed and financed by India, and will be used for exports out of north east states like Tripura and Manipur. So don't worry about India, if Bangladesh decides they want to be anti-India, then so be it, India will do just fine. Of course if Bangladesh tags along, that would be good too, but its not like India is stuck without Bangladesh.

What infrastructure you talking about? Padma bridge 3.5 billion dollar?
The World Bank has committed $1.20 billion, ADB $615 million, Japan government $300 million and the Islamic Development Bank $140 million for building the road-cum-railway bridge.

Don't see any contribution by Bangladesh

Dhaka-Chittagong elevated expressway 4 billion dollar?

First things first its not going to be a elevated expressway, its just a second highway.
Total cost of the project will be approximately US$ 3.00 billion

"The cost for the construction of an elevated expressway has been estimated at $9 billion, while in case of a four-lane highway, it works out close to $4 billion," Arifur said, adding that an expressway would roughly take four years to be built, whereas a highway could be ready in barely two years.

So come brag about it when you have got the loan to even conduct the feasibility study.

The government has sought funds from Asian Development Bank (ADB) for feasibility study on the construction of an elevated expressway from Dhaka to Chittagong.

Please read about the grandiose in the above mentioned links.

You still could not build a single bridge over the Bhramaputra river remember that.

Seriously what is it that you are smoking, try googling if Brahmputra has been bridged or not. I can't be asked spoon feeding any more.

.
$19/ton is not a lot for some cases. We'd obviously need to look at the final agreement before commenting, but generally these agreements are NOT done on per ton basis. Usually the criteria for tariff in Highways sector is number of axles of the vehicle.

Otherwise India would just send loaded trucks through the normal route, and bring back empty trucks via Bangladesh ;)

Everything gets charged. Loaded or not. If not loaded, trucks will pay for tare weight and other agreed fees.

Cost of Padma Bridge project rises to $2.9b

So Government will certainly look for financing of projects?? What's the fun part in it???? Same goes for India. Seems like you dont understand how normal business goes on.
Second Your shallowness regarding container transportation just shows how much you away from reality. Anyways i dont want to waste my time here anymore as lots of discussion already taken place here. You keep on dreaming using swettie port and good luck.

You got to be kidding me. You are the one who was making the tall claims about the grandiose of the "projects" being undertaken by Bangladesh and said that Bangladesh has its own money to develop the infrastructure. You also had the idea that Brahmaputra river in India was unbridged  and then you ask whats the funny part.

Also I have no idea what you mean or are referring to by the highlighted bit.

BTW we are not dreaming about using Sittwe Port. Contract has been signed, construction is going on as we speak, India is investing 125 Million USD in that port. Thanks for your concern. Lets just try and talk facts from next time onwards yeha?

None of these guys here have any clue about international transportation or ever ran any business. You got one saying "we are going to send empty trucks thru BD (to avoid paying fees)", and the fools are thanking him. My 12 yr old niece knows more than these Geniuses.

.
So its roughly around 20$per ton......
Thats too much...........considering we have friendly govt. In bangladesh.

Never mind ........we all know hasina maan jayegi........it will be free in no time

We have La-Hasina as the PM leading a stooge govt full of Mushrik Dalals.

Then why are we paying 20 $ ??

Anyway I have full confidence in RAWamy Dalal Govt. It will be made free after the initial noise dies down

And they say they don't beg for stuffs.

It is not begging - it is "Pull own you pants and bend over" stuff. :)
