I hope I will be seeing you around. :D

I do love giving a good bitch slapping, especially to people who richly deserve it.

Only crimes committed by Hindus are crimes man.

The genocide committed by Muslims on Hindus is just par for the course for the seculars of India.
It is sickening to note how barbaric murderers and rapists like Akbar, Tipu and Shahjahan are secularised in India. In any normal discourse anyone can see the kind of minsters these people were.

In view of opposition to the State-sponsored Tipu Jayanti celebrations by the BJP and Sangh Parivar outfits, police departments in Bidar, Kalaburagi and Yadgir are gearing up for making security arrangements for Friday’s celebrations.

101 officers of different ranks, 2,265 police constables, 300 home guards, 20 District Armed Reserve parties and six contingents of Karnataka State Reserve Police as well as Quick Response Teams have been deployed across the district.

Addressing presspersons at the police headquarters here on Wednesday, Alok Kumar, Inspector General of Police (North-East Range), said that similar security arrangements have been made in Bidar and Yadgir districts as well. Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) would be imposed in sensitive places prohibiting the large-scale assembly of people

Mr. Kumar said that history-sheeters’ parades were conducted in all the three district headquarters and bonds were executed under Sections 107 and 108 of CrPC. 250 history-sheeters from Kalaburagi district, 150 from Yadgir and 175 from Bidar have executed bonds committing not to breach peace during the Tipu Jayanti celebrations, he said.

Mr. Kumar also said that the bonds from community leaders worth Rs. 5 lakh were executed before executive magistrates for preventing them from getting involved in any untoward activities during the celebrations.

To a question, the IGP clarified that no Tipu Jayanti celebrations other than the State-sponsored one would be allowed on the day considering the security concerns. “If someone wants to celebrate at his home, we don’t have any objections. If some organisations want to celebrate it publicly, either as outdoor gathering or indoor public meeting, we will not allow it if we think that such an assembly would create a law and order issue,” he said.

Amidst tight security in and around Kalamandir here, the 268th birth anniversary of Tipu Sultan was celebrated on Friday.

The venue had virtually turned into a fortress with the police personnel deployed in large numbers as a precautionary measure to prevent any untoward incidents with the BJP strongly opposing the celebrations, describing Tipu Sultan “anti-Hindu”.

The celebrations organised by the Mysuru district administration, Department of Kannada and Culture and Tipu Jayantotsava Samithi went off peacefully.

Minister in-charge of Mysuru district H.C. Mahadevappa inaugurated the celebrations in the presence of MLAs Vasu, M.K. Somashekar, Mayor M.J. Ravi Kumar, historian Boodanur Puttaswamy, Maulana Mohammad Jakaulla, president, All India Milli Council, Mysuru chapter, and others.

In his inaugural address, the Minister said the Congress government was not celebrating Tipu Jayanti to appease Muslims but in recognition of his patriotism and secular practices. “We should be proud of Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan who valiantly fought against the British to safeguard the locals and the land,” he added.

The Minister asked, “If Tipu Sultan was an anti-Hindu, why almost half of his army had Hindus as soldiers? Why Dewan Poornaiah was holding the responsibility of his administration?”

‘Link between Hindus,Muslims’

Rubbishing the claims that Tipu Sultan was behind mass conversions of Hindus, Mr. Mahadevappa said he was a freedom fighter and a link between Hindus and Muslims who wanted to end the British stronghold. He (Tipu) should not be seen based on his religion but as a ruler who introduced many revolutionary steps that are still remembered.

Maulana Jakaulla said Tipu Sultan became a martyr while safeguarding the country. “Like how he fought the British, the Hindus and the Muslims must jointly fight their common enemies and make the country a heaven for all,” he said.

CM accuses Opposition leaders of trying to disrupt communal harmony for political gains

Using the Tipu Jayanti platform to again criticise the top BJP leadership in the State, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday accused them of trying to disrupt communal harmony to gain in the coming Assembly elections.

Speaking at a function at the Vidhana Soudha here, he said, “Leaders who had praised Tipu in the past are today criticising him because elections are approaching. Is it fair to criticise Tipu for votes?”

Continuing his tirade, he said, “Leader of the Opposition Jagadish Shettar, while being the Chief Minister, had eulogised Tipu in the preface for a book on Tipu written by historian Sheikh Ali. BJP president and former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, while leading the KJP, had praised Tipu. The former Deputy Chief Minister R. Ashok and Union Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda had all praised Tipu. Today, they are inciting hatred and communal feeling of people.”

He said these leaders should have changed their mindset after at least hearing President Ram Nath Kovind praising Tipu as a tall freedom fighter. “Instead, they stooped to accuse us of writing his (the President’s) speech,” he added. Urging the BJP leaders not to view Tipu through communal lens, the Chief Minister said: “Karnataka is the land of saints, dasas and sufis, and it is the land of Basavanna and Kuvempu too. People are aware of what is right and wrong, and are capable of understanding.”

Comparing Tipu with Emperor Ashoka, he said violence cannot be judged out of context. “In Kodagu, people talk about Tipu being a murderer. There could have been violence and killing when Tipu was expanding his kingdom. But Tipu cannot be termed communal for that.”

BJP minority unit president Franklin Monterio taken into custody, released
Except for an attempt by a Bharatiya Janata Party activist to enter the venue, the Tipu Jayanti was celebrated in a peaceful manner at the Zilla Panchayat auditorium here on Friday.

The police were in good numbers at the function venue. Apart from the main entrance, the police were placed on the narrow roads leading to the auditorium. While private vehicles were made to park outside the venue, only government vehicles were allowed to the function venue. When BJP district minority unit president Franklin Monterio made an attempt to break the cordon, the police took him into custody and released him later in the day.

Inaugurating Tipu Jayanti, district in-charge Minister B. Ramanath Rai said that he was pained over the way Tipu Sultan was being decried. Mr. Rai said that Tipu Sultan has protected several temples and has been a symbol of communal harmony.

Mr. Rai said that historians in the past have stated facts and mentioned events related to Tipu Sultan without adding any colour. It was unfortunate that historians now are trying to twist facts and show Tipu Sultan in a bad light. “History always remains history, even when attempts are made to twist it,” he said. Taunting State BJP B.S. Yeddyurappa, Mr. Rai said, “Those who wore turbans and held swords in the past were now opposing Tipu Jayanti.”

Writer Arvind Chokkady said that Tipu Sultan fought hard against the British and refused to accept slavery. It was Rani Abbakka who first raised voice against slavery between 1525 and 1570. Tipu Sultan carried the fight against the British to greater heights during his rule, more so between 1792 and 1799.

Vinay Kumar Sorake, MLA, said on Friday that Tipu Sultan was a freedom fighter who had fought against the British.

He was speaking after inaugurating Tipu Jayanti function organised by the district administration and the Department of Kannada and Culture at the District Offices Complex Hall, which was held amid tight security, here. He also released a booklet “Mysuru Huli Tipu Sultan” brought out by the Department of Information on the occasion.

Mr. Sorake said that a few years ago, when the State government began celebrating Tipu Jayanti, there were hardly any protests. But they had intensified in the last two years only because of political reasons and also because the Assembly elections were approaching.

It was essential that all communities lived in harmony with one another in the country. It was with that intention that the Pejawar seer had held an Iftaar in the Anna Brahma Hall of Sri Krishna Mutt/Temple complex a few months ago.

Even that was criticised by some forces. These forces were trying to divide society and portray the minority communities in a poor light.

It was the philanthropist and founder of Corporation Bank, Haji Abdulla Saheb (1882-1935), who had provided camphor for the Lakshadeepotsava of Sri Krishna Mutt when there was heavy rain in the temple town.

Such incidents of harmony and peaceful co-existence should not be forgotten. It was the duty of all countrymen to remember those who had fought for the Independence of the country, Mr. Sorake said.

Delivering a special lecture, K. Phaniraj, writer, said that it was Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan who were responsible for giving interest free loans to farmers. They had also improved the irrigation system of the region under their control to help farmers.

They were responsible for the development of tanks in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts. They were responsible for bringing in the system of weights and measures. They introduced accounting in the granaries of the State.

It was the dream of Tipu Sultan to build a federation of states in the country. Hence, he had a tie-up with the French and obtained rocket technology. He was inspired by the French Revolution and called himself “Citizen Tipu”, Prof. Phaniraj said.

Meenakshi Bannanje, president of the Udupi City Municipal Council, Priyanka Mary Francis, Deputy Commissioner, and others were present.

The paintings, dating back to late 18th century, are now disappearing as there have been little efforts at restoration

A visitor to Narasimha Swamy temple in Seebi of Tumakuru district has a surprise waiting on its walls. Along with murals depicting mythologies are also those which show Tipu Sultan and his father Hyder Ali in the royal court.

These paintings that date back to late 18th century in the temple built by Nallappa, who was a fauzdar under both Hyder and Tipu, are now fading away with little effort at restoration.

Historical records say that construction of the temple at Seebi — 95 km from Bengaluru — began in 1761 and was completed in 1790. The paintings are in a mixed style of Tanjore, Mysuru, Maratha and Vijayanagara, according to scholars.

Nallappa was one of the rich landlords and helped Hyder and his soldiers by providing them with food, water and shelter at Seebi. He also provided fodder to their horses after Hyder and his soldiers fought a battle against the Marathas and came to Seebi for treatment for the injured soldiers. Out of gratitude, Hyder gave him the position of fauzdar, according to the 86-year-old descendent of Nallappa, whose name is also Nallappa. “Fauzdar Nallappa was called as Doddamaneyavaru and Doddagaddeyavaru,” he says. He points to a painting of Nallappa along with his two brothers sitting in Hyder’s darbar on the ceiling of the temple.

An official of the Department of Archaeology confirmed to The Hindu that the gazetteer records of the temple, along with the paintings of Ramayana, Mahabharata, Krishna Leela and Vishnu Dashavatara, also shows paintings of Tipu. However, there is no mention as to whether Tipu or Hyder contributed anything to the temple.

Convener of Gadinadu Janapada Samparka Kendra Chikkanna Yannekatte, author of Seebi Narasimha Swamy Kshetra Darshana, says that there is the picture of Hyder sitting in his darbar and the painting of Tipu stepping on a big snake, fighting with his sword with a tiger, trying to kill a wild boar with a long spear, leading his army along with his soldiers and so on, along with Hindu gods and goddesses.

Interestingly, Mr. Yannekatte says that Nallappa had written a book called Hyder Naamavali in which he praised Hyder and Tipu by saying that they worked for the welfare of Hindus. He says that behind the temple, even today, we see remnants of the horse stable of Hyder and Tipu. He claims that for the welfare of the temple, the two had given lands.

Founder of Tumakuru District Heritage Forum, Ameen Ahmed, told The Hindu that on the temple’s stone beams are partially erased inscriptions dating to 1790, which are documented in Epigraphia Carnatica, vol. 12, Tumakuru district, 1904. The inscriptions have names of Fauzdar Nallappa, Hyder and Tipu, among others.
