Regardless of what Hindus call him Tipu Sultan was and will remain a hero to muslims. What is going on is that muslim version of history is being replaced by a Hindu curriculum in both schools and heritage sites.

If India's hindus talk about Tipu Sultan being a villain what about men like Maharan Pratap who is responsible for killing of muslims. History is filled with examples of tyrants and many of these tyrants despite their attitude to the local population made the land rich.

India is slipping into hindutva sphere, hence the hatred for muslims and their leaders who spread Islam to the sub continent.
