Times Higher Education ranks Tsinghua top university in Asia

China is a later comer in science. Chinese are very good at science. I'm not self boasting. I believe most people would agree with me. Science needs talents and money. China used to have talents but no money. Now it has both.

True that.

West needed Plaza accord to halt the rise of Japanese manufacturing.
E Asian are very good at science and mathematics.

Obama won Nobel prize and that says how much it is worth.

The Nobel Peace Prize is irrevelant.

I'm talking about the Nobel Prizes in the Sciences. Are you saying they are unworthy?

The fact of the matter is China has largely been a nobody in the sciences over the last couple hundred years. China has invented little that has truly revolutionized the world over that time.

Meanwhile, the US and the West has driven the science and technological advancement of the world. Name a product that China has developed in the last 200 years that has changed the world?

Name anything that US invented before 300 hundred years ago, so you can see when one nation rises it can quickly change the world, all US inventions happened only in recent two centuries, so with China's rise, we care more about inventions for the next 200 years.

Your just peddling excuses and speculating about the future. China has proven nothing.

The US has a long track record of revolutionary products. China can't say the same.

China defeated the allies in Korea and pushed USA back all the way from North Korean - South Korean border down to the current one. That was when Chinese were dirt poor, starving and had no big guns.

Not to take away anything from achievements of USA, but the Chinese invented the gun powder and the paper.

No one really owns science and knowledge. Science is an inevitability of human existence.

Sciences aside, the USA hasn't produced a single philosopher worthy of mention.

Thanks for supporting my point. You have to go back to ancient times to find a product of note that China has developed.

The USA is the global melting pot of talented brains.

As stated before, no one here is denying the role of the USA in modern science and technology. Anyone who does that is a fool. But anyone who believes the USA will have this advantage eternally is a bigger fool.

My point was exactly that. The Chinese invented paper in ancient times and that is still in use today.

Currently the Chinese are adapting. Once adaptation is complete, innovation and invention will follow.

It is foolish to assume a certain group is better at science because they are that group. If the case was so, some cultures would have had colonies on the Moon and Mars 500 years ago.

Science is a collective effort of humanity.

China has been "adapting" for 2,000 years. We're waiting.....
