There are rumblings in Kabul abut Ambassador Grossman’s statement on the sanctity of the Durand Line. The US State department had to reiterate the formal American policy which like the rest of the world recognizes the Durand Line as the international border between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Mr. Karzai, the Mayor of Kabul doesn’t seem to recognize the fact that Afghanistan’s say in world affairs is on the decline, and by next year the world will have little interest in what Karzai has to say. The US, the UK and NATO will be out of there next year. Bharat has no reason to get involved in that quagmire, and China and Russia dont want to deal with it. Pakistan wants the 3 million refugees sent back.
The experiment called “Afghanistan” has failed. Kabul has no control over the territories designated as “Afghanistan”. It has spread terror around the world, exports terror to Pakistan, and destabilizes the entire region. The artificially manufactured buffer “state” of Afghanistan has been a problem child for the world for at least thirty years this century, and the world is sick and tired of the illogic emanating from Kabul.
Pakistan has had enough of this. Islamabad could out out a formal notice to the jokers in Kabul stating the following:
1) Formally accept the Durand Line as the international border between the two countries, or face abrogation of the Trade Transit agreement and ban on all trade going through Pakistan to Afghanistan.
2) Formally and officially repudiate the Durand Line and sign an agreement to this affect. In this case, Pakistan as a successor state to the British Empire will thus lay claim to the Pakistani border being extended to the Amu Darya.
3) Additionally, Pakistan will liberate areas which were formally under Kabul’s control. All of Wakhan corridor will belong to Pakistan, so that Pakistan can clear it of the spy infestation and all the Pakhtun area will be united with the majority of the Pakhtuns who live in Pakistan. That new province will be called Afghania.

- The United States said on Tuesday that Durand Line is the internationally recognised boundary between Pakistan and Afghanistan, as Washington stood by special envoy Ambassador Marc Grossman’s statement reaffirming its position on the 2640-km-long border.
- “Our policy on this has not changed. It was correctly stated by Ambassador Grossman that we see this as the internationally recognised boundary”, State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland said.

- The State Department’s spokesperson was responding to a question about the Afghan government’s reported rejection of a statement made by US Special Representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan Grossman during his visit to Kabul, where he reiterated Washington’s policy of international recognition of Durand Line.
- The spokesperson was not aware of Afghanistan registering any protest with the US on the issue.
- Questioned if Washington had received any protest from the Afghan government following Grossman’s statement, the spokesperson replied: “To my knowledge, no. But I know there has been quite a bit of press commentary out there”.
