What's new

Thousands of Hong Kong protesters sing Star Spangled Banner, wave American flags

They should go to the world's greatest democracy since they are so afraid of "Red Terror", and Hong Kong government should be generous enough to pay for their one way tickets going there.

I hope they like curry and chapati.

The satanism of america knows no bounds
Ahahahah funny. Hong Kong Chinese people are wishing they were under Americans or British rule/citizen and you are claiming the US is Satan for this? So it's also the US fault that many Hong Kong Chinese people want to be American or British more than Chinese. Wow.....people always blame the West for everything. :disagree:

Of cos, it western fault. They fund so called NGO which preach anti- China policy to distort the people. Demonstrator are paid to riot and demonstrate. If you disagree, then ISIS supporter attack British or American on their soil is nothing to do with ISIS parent organisation in Syria and Iraq, right?

This is a bit much, IMHO.

How is this helpful to their cause?

So you mean the hundreds of thousands to a million people who took out to the streets to protests against the extradition law where all paid agents of the US and UK? WOW....even if that was true must(which it isn't ) that will mean that you have no control whatsoever over Hong Kong(which is officially a Chinese territory) or that your security services are not doing their job properly no?

I believe the question people should be asking themselves is that why does many people in Hong Kong and even Taiwan to some extent prefer Western powers over China even though they are all ethnic Chinese. So this is the question your leaders should be asking themselves . In short it seems many people in Hong Kong and Taiwan are happy with their current democratic free system and are wary of being drawn into China's system of governance which they don't seem to be fond of.

Just one question. Why more than 90% mainland Chinese support Chinese government on this issue? Including those who live abroad. The CCP never governed HK people for one day yet these traitors believe they know CCP more than mainland Chinese. Who are brainwashed? We all know in Hongkong western countries have more influence than mainland government. Hongkong as a region was returned to China 22 years ago. But HK people were not. They even refused to add patriotic courses to their kids' textbook.

Two reasons:1, US propaganda machines work really efficient. 2, Western countries were overwhelmingly advanced than China for last several centries. Which gives these people an illusion that western ideology is superior than current China's(Which was proven to be wrong by China's recent achievement)

Why not have free democratic system in China for few years and then let's see if the 90% of Chinese you claim to be happy with CCP wants it back or not.Can we do this experiment for 25 years?
Matter of fact, China had experienced free and democratic system. From 1912-1927, China was a free and democratic country. Free media, free speech, free organizations and everything(The CCP was born in 1921). And the result was unfortunately total mess. No progress was made during this 15 years. China was still a backward country. And 10 years later, Japanese seized this opportunity to invade China.

Were you born then? It is really something that you have to quote a period about century ago when most of the world isn't free itself. Reality today is very different and no, there is no Japan bogey who would want to invade China. Please pedal CCP propaganda to CCP fan boys.

Japan, South Korea all had similar setups but were democratized in the due time and never looked back.

Instead of anecdotal evidence, why not prove your point by democratizing China for mere 25 years and see if people are willing to give CCP another chance.
Can you attribute Japan and Korea sucess to democracy? Japan's industrializtion happended when the Japanese emperor totally controlled the country and army. Korea's industrializtion was made by the dictators. They turned to democracy mainly because they have democratic boss.

And India itself is not a good sample of democratic society.

US soft power on full display here, their ideals of freedom, liberty and the rest of that free market rah rah resonates more with people everywhere.

Met a friend of mine who has been living in Hong Kong for a while and apparently the locals don't want to be integrated in the Chinese system, this is a movement of young people mostly, the older gens tell their kids to not rebel but nobody's listening lol. People apply for a leave in office and it's understood they're going out protesting and being too pro China or anti protest is sort of frowned upon.

The protests are also very organized and isolated to certain locations, life is normal but there is a big groundswell of support for the protests.

If South Korea and Japan were so great during dictators. Why there is no popular support to revert back? Because most people would not want to give civil liberties for growth alone. I know it's hard for you to understand since you never experienced it yourself.
Good question. Taiwan has introduced democracy for 20 years. And it stopped progressing since then. Back to 90's, Taiwan's GDP was about 50% of China mainland GDP. Now it's only 5%. Democratic India was dwarfed by non democracy China. Why they never doubt the democracy is the root reason? I think democracy is like drug. It is harmful but makes you feel good.

South Korea's recent decades development is the result of China's economy boom. Not because it has democracy.

People in syria and Libya wants Assad rule and Qaddafi days back. Dont you know that?

Russia under Yeltsin democracy of weak Russia revert back to Putin authoritarian which result in stronger and more independent Russia.

CCP is stronger and cannot solely rely on economy factor. More Chinese are patriotic becos large number of Chinese benefit from CCP system which lifts them out of poverty. You will be surprised if a vote really occurs and CCP will still retain majority rule over China.
