Why?

I said I would've attended Memon's funeral if he was in my neighborhood because,

1. Heck,he lived in my neighborhood! In my place a person's funeral and marriage are two events one won't miss. Marriages are limited by invitation, funeral is not. Its irrespective of his religion or deeds. In this case, he was popular,with media attention.

2. He was a robin hood figure more many people, just like many other criminals in India (not the thieves, rapist types, but the organised crime doers,like dons, liquor barrons,corrupt politicians etc). So even though people are aware of the depth of the crime he did, they would've showed up for the favors he had done for them, what the government administrations were incapable of doing. Simple stuffs such a few thousand rupees help when your mother is ill or a job when you are unemployed will make people turn up for his funeral,even though he has killed a 200+ innocent men and women.
