It's deeply shameful and saddens the heart to hear such accounts, more so because this is happening in my country.

However, to take this as an example of the whole while discarding other numerous instances where families saved each other, regardless of religion, would give a skewed picture.

Such unfortunate events have been recorded elsewhere too in times of strife such as this, however that doesn't excuse what happened here, this was shameful and against the spirit of what we stand for.

We need to introspect and in this fast paced individualistic world, deepen the bonds of camaraderie with those who live amongst us. One can only affect change to those around him.

There is a proverb in Urdu that best describes these guys, "kuttay ki taydee dum agar zameen main gaaro hazaar sal, jab nikalo gay, tu taydee ki taydee hi rahay go." Loosely translated as, stick the crooked tail of a dog in the ground for a thousand years, when pulled out, will still remain crooked.

Some of that defect is also evident in Pakistanis, where land mafia, wheat mafia, diesel mafia and politician mafia remains the same as it was 72 years ago. Pakistanis should remind themselves that we are NOT like them, so we better straighten out and become good Muslims.
