I'm a little offended the Thais see Cambodia as more of a threat than their old friends the Burmese. :nhl_checking:

Haha, and also Siam is blessed to have powerful friends like the Imperial Qing. When Ayudhaya Kingdom was conquered by Burmese armies in 1767, it was through the help of the Qianlong Emperor, who waged 4 wars with Burma. This drew the occupation forces from Ayudhaya and mobiliZed them to the border to meet the Qing threat.

The Thais took advantage of this and rallied behind the Half Chinese half thai -- General Taksin, who waged a war of independence and led to the liberation of the Siam.

Qing Dynasty of China had a direct role in helping Siam realize it's independence.

It's important for both Thailand and Burma to be cooperative. Fractious relationship will lead to instability for both nations.

pls note that: Cambodia Prime minister Hun Sen, Defense Minister Mr. Tea Banh r pro-VN. Deputy Commander-in-Chief Gen. Meas Sophea is VNese and many more Cambodia r VNese, too

I'm a bit suprised that Pakistans don't see India as biggest threat

Apart from Kashmir, Pakistan has no real beef with India. In fact our interests are more align than it looks on the surface. The US government on the other hand has really rustled our jimmies, American people and commerce are well regarded in Pakistan

"Taksin the great"'s close friend and general Rama I Chakri came from a Mon family, now this Mon family ruled Thailand,

What's also interesting is that before he became King, Buddha Yodfa Chulalok, was a general who served under Taksin. Taksin was then killed by Buddha Yodfa Chulalok, who then assumed the regal name of Rama I, of the Chakri Dynasty.

The manner in how Rama killed Taksin is rather brutal. He was wrapped in a burlap sack and beaten to death.

This is how they treated their savior, Taksin the "Great".

In a war, Thailand would cut through Cambodia like knife through butter.

Don't forget that the Royal Thai Airforce has over 60 F-16s in it's inventory, strong enough to annihilate any convoy that would enter in it's territory. This is why no nation in ASEAN will war with Thailand.

I wasn't aware there were any foreign troops stationed in Cambo and if there were they certainly wouldn't be Vietnamese considering the political climate there. Can you provide any evidence of this?

Of course Bangladeshis see India as a threat. Pew seems to know that Bangladeshis don't just revolve around the middle class areas of Dhaka.

And honestly, Pakistanis and Indians, mainly Indian Punjabis get along fine outside of the subcontinent. Kaum di punjabi, brah.

People of the old age (60 years old) see Burma as 1st enemy coz they are brainwashed by history books.
People 30-40 do not feel like that.
I guess the younger the generation, the more careless about history, less nationalist they are.

For me (only), I see Burma as friend. I used to have a good Burmese friend. I hope Dawai project go into a success. We will be linked together and spawn industries. We will be united into a single ASEAN communities.

Thanks for that insight.

Our soldiers in Camb-Laos r labours in disguise, thats why u dont know.
Eleven years later, the Lao government announced that all the Vietnamese troops had withdrawn from Laos but the dissident groups claim they remained.

"The Vietnamese government has, in fact, flouted all the Lao peace treaties and independence agreements by retaining an army of over 70,000 soldiers in Laos and occupying the border regions by setting many thousands of Vietnamese families to plunder our heritage and exploit our mineral resources," a statement from the Lao National Council for Democracy said.
