This Indian Muslim Cow trader is tied to a pole and beaten & told to become a Hindu.

Well I've seen a lot of Indians saying the Two-nation theory is invalid, but does that mean they think the Partition was wrong? Since the Partition was based on the Two-nation theory?
The country was divided in the first place because the extreme right wing Hindutvawadis who were not ready to tolerate Muslims in India. Please have a look below, this is a statement by one of their prominent leader who praised Nazi Germany and wowed to emulate the ethnic purging policies of Nazi Germany in India. Please note that these statements were made while India was still governed by the British. Muslims were naturally scared to death and thought if the extreme right wing Hindutvawadis had these ideas while British were still in India, what they would do to the Muslims when Brisitsh would leave? It was this fear that forced Muslims to go for a separate homeland. In-fact Mr. Jinnah had delayed the division of British India until the end but it was Nehru and Congress that refused the proposals of the 1947 Cabinet Mission and sealed the fate of a United India.

Now see how the Hindutvawadi leader Mr. Golwalkar praising the ethnic cleansing of minorities in Germany and vowing to do the same in India:

Mr. Golwalkar put it unequivocally, “the foreign elements in Hindusthan” had but “two courses” of action open to them, entertaining “no idea but those of the glorification of the Hindu race and culture, i.e., of the Hindu nation and must lose their separate existence to merge in the Hindu race,” or they were to live “wholly subordinated to the Hindu nation, claiming nothing, deserving no privileges, far less any preferential treatment not even citizen’s rights.” In all this, Golwalkar held up Germany as a country that might usefully be emulated by India: “Germany has also shown how impossible it is for races and cultures, having differences going to the root, to be assimilated into one united whole, a good lesson for us in Hindusthan to learn and profit by.”

So essentially Mr. Golwalkar (and the Hindutva fascists) is suggesting that all the minorities in India must be eliminated and their cultures eradicated, like Nazi did to the minorities in Germany. What options Muslims were left with other than demanding for a separate homeland?

Funny how you have changed tack from congress to Golwalkar. How many seats did he win?

There are few more gems by the extreme right wing Hindutvawadis on the praise of Nazi ethnic/religious cleansing model and its application in Bharat:

"To keep up the purity of the Race and its culture, Germany shocked the world by her purging the country of the Semitic races -- the Jews. Race pride at its highest has been manifested here. Germany has also shown how well-nigh impossible it is for Races and cultures, having differences going to the root, to be assimilated into one united whole, a good lesson for us in Hindusthan to learn and profit by." -- Madhav Sadashiv Golwalkar, We, or, Our Nationhood Defined (Nagpur: Bharat Publications, 1939), p. 35.

"The ultimate vision of our work .. is a perfectly organised state of society wherein each individual has been moulded into a model of ideal Hindu manhood and made into a living limb of the corporate personality of society." -- Madhav Sadashiv Golwalkar, We, or, Our Nationhood Defined (Nagpur: Bharat Publications, 1939).

"There is nothing to prove that it (i.e. the caste system) ever hindered our social developments. Actually the caste system has helped to preserve the unity of our society."-- Madhav Sadashiv Golwalkar, Bunch of Thoughts (Bangalore: Rashtrotthana Sahitya, 1966), p.108.

As I mentioned, the division of British India was a direct result of fear among Muslims, a fear that was instilled by the intolerant Hindus starting from the Shuddhi movement of 1923 where they vouched to convert all the minorities back to Hinduism, something that is called "Ghar Waapsi" now a days.

Some people talk about the political presence of Hindutvawadi elements in Indian poitic and how it would have affected the political process of the time. Well, certain extremely influential elements in Congress such as Sardar Patel were as much Hindutvawadi extremists as was Mr. Golwalkar and his Bhakts. Besides, just like Muslim League was representing the majority view of Muslim of India, the Congress was the guardian of the Hindu interests hence it would be naive to assume that Congress and people such as Golwalkar were on two different pages with reference to the fate of Muslims of India.

Two nation theory is alive and ticking, the evidence is right above. This is why we split in the first place.

Is it? What's your take on the men who were killed by a mob in Pakistan after the church bombing? Three-nation theory perhaps?

Well I've seen a lot of Indians saying the Two-nation theory is invalid, but does that mean they think the Partition was wrong? Since the Partition was based on the Two-nation theory?

No, it's because a 3rd of the Muslims live in Pakistan, a 3rd in India and another 3rd in Bangladesh. So a 3rd of the subcontinents Muslims population didn't think it needs to live in Muslim only country (Indian muslims), another 3rd thinks their primary identity is Bangla so they fought for their own country. So it's not really "two-nation" theory, is it?

Maybe you should go to India and preach that to Indian Muslims? I don't think they are aware of all this. I'm sure they'd drop everything and move to Pakistan in heart beat when they hear all this. Too bad you weren't around during partition, we could have had a real two-nation scenario where the 3rd of the Muslims who were left to suffer in India could have taken their rightful place in the country created just for them.

Two nation theory says Muslims can't live with Hindus. Reality suggests Muslims can't live with Muslims as well, the way things are in Muslim world. What to name this theory?

Wondering how many muslims moved out of India to Pakistan & Bangladesh, vis-a-vis how many came into India legally and illegally. And people talk about 2 nation theory.

There was a video with similar treatment given to hindu guy also who worked as agent in providing cows for slaughters.
So it doesnt matter if you are hindu, muslim, christian or jain. And there are always few bad rats who will try to communalize a situation to provoke the mass, who otherwise would have not taken matter into religious umbrella. This kind of provacation gets them media attention also provides base to make inroads into mass with there ideology to put up as if they are the saviours of religion.

Since some here are muddying the waters - let me clarify something. This is going to be from a Bangladeshi perspective since I represent and am from that country and what I see around me everyday.

Being a secular nation like Bangladesh does not mean that we have to discard respect and regard for religion (akin to throwing the baby out with the bath-water). The subcontinent is full of people with religious sensitivities. You cannot show disrespect to religion or followers of religion and get away with it just because you don't agree with their viewpoint. It is not a viable long-term proposition.

Religious entities and secular entities can exist side-by-side, peacefully. When the religious few understand that religiosity is a deliberate mindset and not a forced mindset only then status quo is equalized. The moderately religious will need to be constructively engaged by the secular majority and the jihadi intolerant few will need to be forcefully dealt with using every modern means and expense available to the state.

This is part of the reason the Govt. of Bangladesh has invested wisely in a modern paramilitary police force which is currently unparalleled in the whole subcontinent in terms of technology and sophistication. Law and Order needs to be maintained at any cost. Enemies of the state will be contained.

Bangladeshis celebrate Durga Puja and Eid with equal fervor. The Puja 'mandaps' in Dhaka rival the best in Kolkata. The number of Kolkata professionals working in Dhaka (majority without legal papers) is unprecedented. This is the mark of a tolerant, laissez faire economy which is the third or fourth largest source of remittance to the 'Indian Superpower' economy and has helped keep the lights on in neighboring Kolkata.

I'm sure the majority of people in India are tolerant of various religions other than their own, but they are also tolerant of intolerance followed by a certain vocal minority (Hindutvabadis) and certain actions (trying forced conversion) by lawless thugs. I'm surprised to see Hindu people summarily beating up a Muslim (minority) without the police intervening.

When you tolerate crap like this as a nation silently - then the whole world sees your 'aukat' and what you stand for and sees your moral impotence. The fact that you are not protesting this inhuman behavior reduces your credibility and your moral standing - and people like the US president can then lecture you on religious intolerance and morally put you in equal standing with banana republics around the world.

Pakistan should offer him citizenship. Quaid-e-Azam built Pakistan precisely because he saw this coming. Every Pakistani should see this video and know that this could have been them if not for this country, and should unite with their Pakistani brothers regardless of their diferences because this country is all they have.

Why are you living in Australia if you believe Muslims and non Muslims cant live together? That has to one of the stupidest idea that two human beings cant live side by side.

That is such a silly question. I can't believe you don't even know the basics. It only applies to Yindoos and Juice. I bet he crosses the street to avoid being on the same sidewalk with a Yindoo.

I know it's selective hearing. You can see with the threads about China banning burqa, etc. all of a sudden it's no hear, see, or tell.

Anyone who believes such a concept, should not immigrate to countries like the USA, Australia, UK, etc. You can keep that medieval garbage to yourself.

I think you should ask yourself if he's going to accept your offer, what with people blowing themselves up and the random shootings.

That's just good old fashioned common sense. You don't bite the hand the feeds you. :D
