Third Indian Frigate Undergoes Dock Trials in Russia

truth is always painful for those lliving in denials。

pictures taken of the “dump” where India's so-called most advanced fighting ships are being built, say it all。

In retrospect, one must really ponder the 'dump' that was your home for 9 months, if that's the best trolling you could come up with....

Third Indian Frigate Undergoes Dock Trials in Russia | Defense | RIA Novosti

A Talwar class frigate being built for the Indian Navy at the Yantar Shipyard in Russia’s exclave of Kaliningrad has begun dock trials, the shipyard said.

The Trikand is the last in a series of three frigates built under a $1.6-billion contract with India. The first frigate, the Teg, was delivered to India in April 2012, while the second, the Tarkash, has completed sea trials and will be delivered in November.

“The Trikand started dock trials at the Yantar shipyard on September 15,” Yantar spokesman Sergei Mikhailov told reporters on Tuesday. “They will continue until mid-January next year.”

The sea trials of the frigate will be held in the Baltic Sea and the delivery of the warship to the Indian Navy is expected in summer 2013.

The new frigates are each armed with eight

They are also equipped with a 100-mm gun, a Shtil surface-to-air missile system, two Kashtan air-defense gun/missile systems, two twin 533-mm torpedo launchers, and an antisubmarine warfare (ASW) helicopter.

India announced in 2011 that the Yantar shipyard had delayed the delivery of the frigates for over a year due to a shortage of skilled labor and flaws in the production chain.

In a separate development, the delivery of the Vikramaditya, formerly the Russian Navy's Admiral Gorshkov, to the Indian Navy has been put back from December 2012 to at least October 2013 after propulsion failures occurred during the ship’s sea trials in the White Sea last month.

A string of delays on the delivery of military equipment has drawn sharp criticism by Indian authorities and soured traditionally strong bilateral military-technical ties.

Moscow has recently lost several large tenders on the delivery of weaponry to India, which used to be a major buyer of Russian-made military equipment.

So if not wrong then in total IN has about 9 and Russians will offer their corvettes as well may be in 6 in first batch???

A considerably upgraded and much larger p17s are already being manufactured by IN. And as far as corvettes are concerned, damn they are big enough to carry Sea Kings ... which can counter any frigate in IOR as of now..

currently IN has 4 Talwar class ASW frigates (or Krivak class frigate), it will soon get 2 more in about 6 months time + IN will again sign a contract for 3 more Krivaks, making it a total of 9 frigates. As far as corvettes are concerned India is making it's own P-28 stealth corvettes with the follow on being p-28A corvettes, so it's a clear no to Russia for the corvettes.

I'd suspect 9 Talwars were likely- with the last 2 batches of 3 being ever more advanced than the batches preceding them. Wrt Corvettes- India is making their own,the P-28As which are extremly advanced and one of the best such class of vessels operated by any navy in the world.

lol , chinese , i just read the chinese source of so called yj-12 , aritcal is full of maybe and maybe only, no one knows that thing even real or not , and if its real same artical says that CEP is 9m , and max speed is >2.5mac . lol's this is what call crap , who use a misslie which has CEP of 9m as a anti-ship wapon? :undecided: only cpc:woot:

. .
There is said Yj-12 hypersonic anti-ship missile with around 360KM range , max SPEED 2 marh. That's all i know

Mach 2.5 terminal speed doesn't make it hypersonic. Its plain supersonic and PJ-10 is still 0.3 Mach faster than it. Hypersonic is Mach 5 +. The only Hypersonic ASCM I see on the horizon is the Brahmos-II (Mach 7), the American Hypersonics are all LACMs that ain't maneuverable enough to strike fast moving targets...

I really don't buy much into the YJ-12, to date there is no evidence that it was ever really tested, lest still brought into service and fitted on warships, if China has a supersonic 360km missile, why fit ships like Type-054A frigate with subsonic 180-km missiles like C-802 ??? Just doesn't make any sense.

To date the BrahMos is the only true sustained-supersonic anti-ship missile to be mass produced and brought into active service on a multitude of warships, land-based launchers and soon air-launhed and submarine-launched versions as well.

@ OP

There seems to be a mistake in the title of the article, this isn't the 3rd but
the 5th Talwar-class frigate coming. IN has already inducted 4 - INS Talwar,
INS Tabar, INS Trishul, INS Teg.,,,INS Tarkash and INS Trikand are coming.

That won't be even counted facing our 052d Ageis destroyer. We shall talk this over again when IN possess Ageis platform. You can't expect Brahmos to save the world. Brahmas seems too big to be VLS launched.

i know you are obsessed with the american aegis system, the type-052c,d were designed on the lines of the aegis but one cannot say that the chinese aesa, combat management system, missiles are comparable to american aegis(which with the latest sm-6,essm,sm-3 is far superior to its competititors) ,india is also designing p-15a destroyers on the lines of aegis,it would be a good match for 052d.........

I see it differently.

I call it Guts to stay even in all Odds.

where as in your case, its appeasement.

Now instead of distracting from the topic.......... present some facts.

any live test pic of your so call hypersonic YJ-12????????

I will post in china section when I get the picture. Just looking forward to it, pray for the best. Could you give something new here, I get bore with Brahmos this and Brahmos that.
