These are the 10 best countries in the world in 2019

Most of her songs are in Chinese though. You can understand?

Different languages never prevented me from appreciating good stuff (esp with few good buddies to translate the overall meanings/main lines etc) :) ...btw I grew up before that in Hong Kong...I am well versed in Cantopop of that era just so you know :D @GeraltofRivia

Haha don’t you mean she’s so pretty and pretty and erm pretty! :p:

Yes that too haha.

Haha, I always find Hong Kong and Singapore are very attractive places to visit as they have such an interesting fusion of Chinese, Indian, SE Asia and western culture. 1990-2010 was the peak of cantonpop and there are so many talented (and beautiful) artists:wub:. The younger generation is not as good or many, or maybe I am just getting old and don’t follow anymore.:laughcry:

I was actually chatting with my cousin the other day about Sun as he was quoting lyrics from one of her songs. She was basically the idol of our generation. At the peak, her songs were literally sang in every karaoke in China (is probably still the case I bet).

Yep she was huge back then (so I thought it apt to raise with @Mista hehe, tho i agree with him its silly to put Singapore quite in the league of much larger countries projection on it).

Back then in Singapore, TVB pearl dramas/shows were really popular too...that provided good continuity given I grew up on lot of TVB pearl stuff in HK lol.

Yeah man. Mandopop was flourishing in the early 2000s. Classics.

I would place china above norway france and canada even australia.

Only thing that is negative about china is communist party besides that there is no reason to view china negatively.

Its too totalitarian. Nothing negative just not enough freedoms when compared to the west.

完美的一天 (perfect day)

Too bad she doesn't appear much in public nowadays.

A lot of singers are now taking part in Chinese variety shows like I Am A Singer. But apart from that appearance on I Want to Sing with You, you don’t seem to be going down that route. Why?

I know [my appearance on that show] is very random. I did it ’cos [Chinese powerhouse vocalist and the show’s host] Han Hong has been an awesome friend and I felt like I had to do it. But the reason I don’t really do it… I don’t know how to say this without being politically incorrect (laughs). But for what it is, the pay is crazy. And I feel like I don’t get it.

You don’t get that they pay you a lot of money to be on the show?

No. That I get. I get that the market is very big but in a way I don’t get it. I feel like I need to swallow fire or wear a bikini, you know what I mean? I get it if I get paid well for performing or holding a concert. Maybe it’s ’cos I feel like I don’t know how to be a judge [on a talent show]. Performing is fine, that’s okay. I’m not closed off to it.

I’m sure you’ve been asked many times.

Yes. I’ve been asked until they feel like, “Don’t ask her lah, so irritating.”

We’re asking ’cos it does sound like a good way to make a quick buck.

I know. I know. I know. I get it. But that part is also the part that scares me. Like, what do you mean?

Like it can’t be all that simple?

Yes!
