What's new

There’s extreme intolerance in India: Shah Rukh Khan ( Indias will be now- who is SRK ?)

Well, I do not know about cannot, because we obviously do.

So do not abuse it.

When in Maharashtra, try to be a good Maharashtrian.

I am from Bombay. Family has been here since at least 5 generations. And I do have friends who are Marathis. Despite all its shenanigans, the Sena has never managed to win the election in Maharashtra alone. But there is a little anger against non-Marathis in Bombay by the ethnic Maharashtrians. It manifests itself in many different ways.

Some are vocal about it. Some are not. The Sena was itself groomed and made into a force by Indira Gandhi to prevent the leftist tilt of the mill workers because of their leader Dutta Samant.

Agree to all that you have said. We are no angels. Nor ever claimed (or wanted) to be.

Sire we live in India.
Why should Mahasrashtrians or maharashtra have special rules?

There is no why. But what is. No explanations are owed or are likely to be provided.

I mentioned Tipu Sultan because despite the myriad of soldiers he had, he was successful in converting a small part of Kerala, which itself is a tiny state in India. So I'm not sure if Maharashtrians should claim something like this- "The people because of whom India remains a Hindu nation today".

As I said, I have no interest in getting into an inter-state urinating contest with an Indian on a Pakistani forum. Let's leave it here. If you've not got it yet (as many here obviously have) you are unlikely to, or will continue to argue only to make a point.

Especially on Tipu Sultan, it should be embarrassing. Especially when speaking to a Maratha (yes, I come from a line of Parsi Marathas).

Amusing to see people like SRK and NRN starting to see India as intolerant just days after they are ordered to follow law.

SRK got a notice from ED, BJP govt demolished the illegal structure he had made in front of his house.
NRN's son was removed from Top-Education body by HRD minister.

Surely intolerance is rising.

Meanwhile ..

Mind your language Mr.Vsdoc.
I did not intend to make it into any contest.

What is embarrassing?
I do not support Tipu sultan on anything other than the innovative rocket launchers he/his army produced.

1) you were the first to pick on my post on this thread.
2) I wanted to discontinue this "discussion" long back but I assumed you might understand the point I was trying to make, but all in vain.
I'll make sure we don't cross path again.
Just FYI- I am not here to pick on Indians. I expressed my views on a topic, if it hurts a few then... so be it!!!

And for whatever reason you got a like from @MilSpec

I have travelled lengths and breadths of India, lived in more than 15 states for longer and shorter period of time, I personally found people of Tamilnadu a bit unwelcoming (maybe cuz of the language) and Delhi people kind of arrogant ( maybe that's how they roll ), never faced any kinds of intolerance anywhere. I have lived in Mumbai for two long years and found marathis chill and down to earth people. Not sure how can u identify a sena guy unless u engage him in a political discussion. Would like to know what kind of intolerance have u experienced from shivsena during your stay in Maharashtra? of course if you don't mind sharing:-)
marathis are down to earth straight talking people, I agree. You wont expect a marathi to sugarcoat anything. they hate muslims though, and follow cult of shivaji.
does each marati grow up reading exploits of shivaji and hating mughals?

SRK is a great actor. Go back to the old days with those family films.
the most overrated actor. As a person his conduct is admirable, but will never watch is stupid movies.

Maharashtrians in general and Shiv Sainiks in particular reserve their special treatment for special out-of-staters.
If you are cool, then we are cool.
If not, then you are really messing with the wrongest people in India.
The people because of whom India remains a Hindu nation today.
Just because we do not throw it around politically at the center, does not mean the rest forget about it.
Especially those who bent over first or most easily.
There is a degree of racial martial pride involved here that borders of supremacism. I will not deny it, nor would want to.
Doc
Shiv Sainiks of today seems to be tolerable even with their fair share of vandalism and utter stupidity in many fields. But do you really believe Shiva Sena really had such an illustrious past.Shiva Sena of 80's and 90's never really cared about our country's integrity as they were making everything into Maratha Vs Others as if Marathas were a different nationality. Shiv Sena of the past was a DMK + SP kind of party which later evolved into a Hindu nationalist one.

No bro. The Sena was NEVER secessionist.

NEVER.

Supremacist. Crude. Violent. Even corrupt.

I wouldn't mind the sena if the they wouldn't have been such blatant hypocrites - I am of-course referring the personal choices of Thackeray family vis-a-vis standards they impose on the hoi-polloi.

They are a very urbane and polished Marathi family in person.

Yes, there's no difference between goons of CPI(M) and Shiv sainiks.
Apart from blatant anti-Economic and anti-development stand which CPI(M) takes from time to time paralyzing each and every attempt to bring development into our country. At least Shiv Sena is way better in that aspect and they never acts as Trojan horses against their own country.

You can’t stop Pak artistes from working in Bollywood: Salman Khan

Reacting to the recent debate over prohibiting Pakistani artists from working in our country, Bollywood star Salman Khan has said that art and entertainment have no boundaries, adding that they shouldn’t be mixed with politics.

“Now that everything is digital, Indians love to watch each and every entertainment show, including popular Pakistani shows . So, art and entertainment have no boundaries. Entertainment is evaluated by what common people want to watch,” Salman said.

Last month, popular Pakistani singer Ghulam Ali was forced to cancel his concert here due to political interference. “How can we allow Pakistani artists to perform here when our soldiers are being killed by them? We are not interested in cultural ties with such enemies,” said Akshay Bardapurkar, the general secretary of the party’s film wing Chitrapat Sena.

Pakistani actors Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan -- who have Bollywood projects in their kitty -- were also targeted by the Shiv Sena.

“Politics and art should not be mixed. This is not what common people want,” Salman Khan said, adding, “If someone wants a Pakistani actor who can portray a role better, nobody can put a constraint. Bollywood has a huge number of fans in Pakistan and earns a good share of income from the neighbouring country.”

This is not the subject matter here. Take it elsewhere.

I agree, contrary to their politics

All most Pakistanis (and non Maharashtrians) out here know of the Shiv Sena is the goons on the news.

Surely no one who is remotely intelligent would imagine a megapolis like Mumbai could be run by a gang of goons alone.
