THE YOM KIPPUR WAR : THE ALGERIAN CONTRIBUTION

.
@James Jaevid @Natan

This is interesting though, Israel was able to engulf the 3rd Army and seize western Suez because it pushed between the 2nd and 3rd Egyptian armies because of a gap (Chinese Farm?) they weren't able to plug due to lost of manpower and equipment.

The honest question is would Israel have been pressured to ceasefire along the Suez had Sadat not decided to push beyond his SAM umbrella, which the Israelis had begun to develop counter-tactics for.

Operation Tagar was successful, low-flying Israeli jets damaged Egyptian Airbases, and the next wave would have taken out the SAM batteries, albeit with great losses, had the IAF not refocused on Golan.

because of a gap (Chinese Farm?) .

lmao!!

As for operation Tagar, ignorance, what was successful exactly? the goal was to disable EAF bases, which was unsuccessful because there was little to no damage and the bases were returned back to service in few hours.

Go learn something about the war first before running your mouth. dumbo collecting his information from Google.

Oh btw, Israeli airforce TRIED to attack 7 EAF bases, but they didn't damage the 7 bases! air battles took place and Israeli aircraft escaped, for example the attack on Janaklees airport failed and Israeli aircraft escaped (they thought it was going to be like the six day war) didn't expect a fight.

.
Anyone who can show me neutral claims?

Why ruining their epic stories about their decisive victories? ;)

This is purely for their internal consumption, it keeps stupid people stupid, and preserves the balance of power, which is comfortable for Israel these days.
it was Egyptian victory our armed forces accomplished all their objectives and sainai is ours again

.
Ugh , who cares Won or Lose in a war before like 40 years .. i really wish to see another war between Egypt and Israel .. like reaaaaaally wish :D

. . .
so what , i didn't ask your opinion , afraid of them or what? :D
i am not afraid i know a lot about this conflict i listened to many people who witness it and people who fought in the wars the canal cites suez ismalia portsaid destroyed civilians lost their life many of our armed forces killed or injured our economy suffered because of war so i say we got back our land and fought to regain the reputation of our armed forces that is it we would not start a war but we will defend our country to the last man if needed

Had to find neutral sources so you have to read between the lines.

Watchman Fell Asleep, The: The Surprise of Yom Kippur and Its Sources - Uri Bar-Joseph - Google Books

A History of Air Warfare - John Andreas Olsen - Google Books

Regardless, the facts have been written down in history. While Israel valued the lives of it's soldiers, providing them with superior training, Arab nations just threw human waves, hoping for a symbolic victory.

Israel had no use for the Sinai. Sure the Oil fields were nice, but it was dead desolate desert. Any grandeur Sadat wants to play he's welcome to. The 3rd Army was surrounded, it was only through the US that Israel decided not to destroy the army, as it served a great bargaining chip as well as face saving for Sadat.

i really dont want to repeat my self but here we go again victory in any war depend on accomplishing the objectives you set for yourself before the war our army did not have mobile air defense systems or the air force to cover advance deep into siani and the goal was never to clear all of sainai our objectives were
1 crossing bar liv line and clearing it
2 establish defensive postions and wait for isreali counter attack
3 inflict heavy losses until the isrealis are ready to negotiate
there was some mistakes made but they dont change the fact that we won and if you think the isreali forces in the gap between our 3rd and 2nd army can do anything you are wrong they tried to enter ismalia and failed they attacked suez and failed and we had forces in cairo and the ability to call for help from algria or sudan for example in the same time isreal had suffered many losses and could not afford to lose more lives or money in this war small population a big number of them are in the IDF so economy was going to stop if the war continued

In war no one wins.

In the end, Egypt showed they could compete with Israel? Israel already knew that Egypt was the priority threat to Israel and it knew that the Syrians would only wage war if Egypt had declared war itself.

Sadat wanted to use the beachheads on the Eastern Sinai as cards to force a negotiation by Israel. A negotiation for what? Peace, return of the Sinai, freedom for Palestine?

Israel made it clear to Egypt they'll return the Sinai if Egypt negotiated peace. That offer was available to Syria also, with the Golan Heights.

I don't know the specifics of the Peace Accords to go further. But it was specifically agreed that:

Egypt would not blockade the Eilat Port,
Or bar Israeli merchant/ naval ships from transiting the Suez Canal,
Joint agreement on the number and position of soldiers in Sinai.

The Future for Palestine would be negotiated between Israel and Palestinians without referencing who the 'Palestinian' party would be. A face-saving measure for Sadat.

So in the end Egypt got the Sinai and Jordan gave up it's claim for West Bank. So much for Arab Unity.

That is, unless the Egyptian Government decided to wage war, win something, to pacify any opposition to peace. Then that's brilliant.
