BBC News - The woman keeping pace with men in the Bangladesh army

Ten years ago Bangladesh became one of the few Muslim countries in the world to let women join the army.

Major Nashra Afroze obtained a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in 2003.

Today she is one of the few women officers serving in a frontline unit.

As an officer in the 8th Field Regiment Artillery all the troops in her command are men.

BBC Bengali's Sabir Mustafa reports.

Does that mean she gets to take part in combat roles?? If yes then thats bada$$

.
ooo....she is beautiful and the army uniform spiced it up even more:toast_sign:
man !! i want a bad@$$ wife like her:devil:

.
recruiting females in the Bangladesh army is nothing but a PR stunt to satisfy the UN. I bet I can out run her, out jump her and i don't bleed for a whole week ones a month.

. . . .
Seems boltu have just encountered the teenage crush on women in uniforms,
apperently when they do become b**chy, they prefer to beat the cr@p out
of their partners than go for a date!
Sounds like you and iajdani bro already have the first hand experience:D

.

The girl seems to be known to me... :P

Few years back I watced iranian female police training. They are much more what's te word aaa more daredevil I guess if that is the currect spelling. So I was wondering bangladesh could send female police from bangladesh to iran for training.

I dont think its a stunt. they are already deployed in UN missions. So i think some them are quite experienced.

^^there were recruited to show the woman's rights and what not. I understand the woman recruits in the israeli armed forced since they have a small population and they have lots of enemies, but Bangladesh does not have this problem. It is a fact that men are faster, stronger and can jump higher aka physically better for the army minus the extra baggage. Seriously if you were in a war time situation, who would you have your back as....a man or a woman?

depends women were really good snipers for the russians. Anyway, if the women shows that she has a flair the army, she should be allowed to take up combat roles
