What's new

The US is Asia’s most popular ally

Just want to troll respond to the title, do we have other choice if US policy is either you are with us or against us? :usflag:

Anyway, i have to admit that Japanese is quite popular as they are strong in soft power (just like US and UK) especially the younger generation.

Too much FOX NEWS....cough....cough.....too much FOX NEWS !

How can we hate a country that's given us Lord of the Rings, the Hobbit, Jurassic Park, Terminator and the Hangover ? :kiss3:

Even if it has ruined the sequels to each and every one of them ! :tsk:
You're cool man

So does anyone know what the matter is with the Indonesians? Their greatest ally and biggest enemy is both US? Or am I reading it wrong?

.
Yes brother. While alleged subversive actions of CIA can be an acceptable reason of hate but that is mostly institutionalised in respective countries. But these institutions need a mass support for this among their masses. So to induce a negative word-of-mouth, they attack american societal values and culture which is patently wrong on their part.

Most uneducated people sadly fall for that. :(

People are very helpful here. :kiss3:

I have watched Lord of the Rings like maybe 20 times. All three :crazy_pilot: I hate Jurassic park though except the first one :warning2:

People are indeed helpful here but they're also sometimes  when it comes to Turk-Chinese, Pakistani-Indian etc. threads ! :o:

Lord of the Rings is great ! :kiss3:

Dead Poet Society has to be my favorite ! :agree:

Most funny thing is china favorable view of India and Pakistan is same 30 %
There are two likely scenario in near future:
Chinese may not remain favorable to India when ' Make in India ' kicks in. It will impact Chinese imports to India negatively and will have some repercussions. They may start treating us as competitors
But Yoga, other traditional and religious stuff and tourism is finding favour with many young Chinese making India popular.

.
Indonesia :o:
Greatest ally: USA
Greatest threat: USA

Im shocked/baffled by that as well.o_O Confused much? lool:lol:
As for China, surprised to see the Philippines view China even more favorably than India does:sick:. I'm shocked to see India views Japan almost as negatively as it views China.:o: Strange.........

Not surprised to see Philippines still views its former colonial master the U.S as its most trustworthy ally of all in Asia.
Why does Malaysia,Thailand, and even Philippines view India not so favorably?? :what: India to my surprised is viewed quite unfavorably compared to even China. Thought it would have been the opposite.

Interesting survey all the same.

True, but to be honest, most Chinese(media/government included) don't care much at all about India(if you have been there, you will hardly watch any news at all about India), their focus is mainly on their eternal/bitter enemy Japan and to some extent the U.S/West. Reason i believe China and India can solve their issue far more easier(possible) than China and Japan can ever do. In the later case its something personal. lol:devil:

Try to have a Japanese and Chinese work on the same project, it's FUN :D

America can never be anybody's ally.

Btw why does Japan view Pakistan so negatively? Any idea @Nihonjin1051
Just curious!!

If i am to guess why there is such apprehension, it would probably be due to the negative media images seen in various international media sources like CNN, BBC, FOX, MSNBC, CNBC, NBC --- which usually portray Pakistan with problems with terrorists affecting the development of the country.

Now I would like to , as a professional , try to attempt to elucidate the Japanese view of Pakistan. The poll posted here in this thread is asking about the 'view' of Pakistan and does not specify the reasons or factors that may affect their view, which is probably unfair. I would say that the negative image or negative perception of Pakistan is due in part to the activity of terrorist groups such as TPP, and many others that are trying to dampen the Pakistan Government's control in the country and affect the law and order of the country.

On general, and on consensus, I think that the Japanese people have so much respect for the Pakistani People, as per our two nations' long and friendly history of strategic partnership. The people to people relationship is not a problem, the problem is the instability that is seen in Pakistan due to these terrorist groups that are affecting the lives of almost 200 million Pakistanis , as well as their antagonism towards foreigners. For example, I have discussed this issue with some of my Pakistani buddies here in the USA, and one thing that i was astounded to hear was that there were even members of the Pakistani Taliban who were targetting the Red Crescent , Red Cross and international medical organizations from giving medical vaccines because apparently these terrorists think that the vaccines is some kind of western plot to control the minds of the people. How asinine is that? My friend Adeel, a Pakistani guy, even told me this and we both agree that that kind of mentality needs to change in the great nation of Pakistan.

So, again, there is no negative view of Pakistani people, but there is definite concern on the stability issue that is being affected by terrorist organizations that affect the Pakistani people themselves as well as the opinion of the partners of Pakistan, such as Japan. We Japanese, of course, want Pakistan, our long time friend and strategic partner, to stabilize and to destroy these radical groups , and to encourage greater economic development as well as greater people to people exposure between Pakistan and Japan. Definitely ! Definitely!

@Nihonjin1051 hates me....isn't it obvious that behind that carefully practiced veneer of 'Armstrong - My Brother' by Nihonjin there really is 'May you get a stomach cramp when you're eating your 11th slice of a 3 Cheese Pizza' ! :(

hahahaha, what? seriously? you're being emotional again, my dear brother. Should i tackle you ?:devil::D

My assumption was, Japan maintained a safe distance from Pakistan due to its close ties with China.

No. China has no influence on our engagement with Pakistan, in fact, Pakistan and Japan have relations that stretch over 70 years. In fact, it was Pakistan to first establish diplomatic relations with Japan post-war. There have been thousands upon thousands of initiatives between Japan and Pakistan over the years, and the fact that there is a considerable number of Pakistanis and Japanese of Pakistani origin that live in Japan --- is testament of this relationship , bond that Japan had with Pakistan.

I should also say that perceptions are never stagnant or constant; perceptions are influenced by the challenges of the times. Relationship between Japan and Pakistan will withstand and outlive any problems caused by terrorists. And I am sure that as Pakistan stabilizes , perception of Pakistan will only increase. That's usually the case.

Let's bring it into perspective. Japan and Pakistan have had relations even before there was a 'People's Republic of China'. That's how deep our relations go.

Yeah you tell @levina apa that no amount of her machinations is going to break the bond that Japan and Pakistan has ! :chilli:

This bond would be even deeper if you guys could make Tikka flavored Sushi ! :(

'Cause the closest way to a Pakistani's heart is through tantalizing food ! :p:

Hahaha, my dear brother, don't you know that Japan loves and adores South Asian nations equally. There is no favoritism. Be it Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan ! There is no such thing as Japanese favoritism in South Asia, the region is equally...developable ;)

All are equally partners of the Rising Sun.... ;)

They really ought to send you to UN my friend. You would make a wonderful diplomat who says a lot and and at the same time doesn't really say anything. People can take whatever they want from your statement and go back happy :)

What ? :o:

Are you telling me that I - a Pure Blooded Wizard and @levina apa - a Half-Blood Princesses, are equal in your eyes ? :pissed:

I am a direct descendant of Salazar Slytherin and am also Godric Gryffindor's great-great....great cousin twice removed !

Comparing me with someone who's only half magical - I've never been so let down in my life ! :tsk:

I mean granted that @levina apa is better at Quidditch than I am but is it my fault that no one played football at Hogwarts ?

And @levina apa its 'football' and not 'soccer' so don't call it as such ! :disagree:
