It’s not in Europe’s interest to be dependent on one supplier even if it’s the US. Europe will resume buying Russian gas at some point simple because it's cheaper.

The biggest mistake Europe made was to abandon nuclear power. It should reverse this policy.

Russia now is the most sanctioned country on earth. Poorer and weaker than ever. All 20 years of economic progress: gone. After 1 month.
Putin’s biggest hope now is China. the chinese will probably join the war to support Putin.

The Russian geography may be bigger but it is not ideal, as to what the USA's is. The Russian one is connected to way too many countries which are prone to unrest and the enemy taking advantage by creating conflicts (Ukraine one example). Where as the USA has oceans on two sides and two stable neighbors Canada in the north and Mexico in the south. Though Mexico could be considered its underbelly that is why they invest so much for walls and border management.

The biggest handicap Russia may face is that it will no longer be able to procure the technology and some financial tools from Europe, necessary for further productions.

On the other hand, the increase in global gas prices produces results in favor of countries with high production costs. Such gas fields, which are not profitable to produce, can now become viable and operational in the long term. The Eastern Mediterranean (deep sea operation) can be given as an example in this sense.

Europe (and some Asian economies) is a net energy importer. But they have the technology, finance and services related to this industry. They invest in production technology, infrastructure, operation and financing in all energy fields that can be integrated into the European system.

In the new paradigm, Europe will buy gas at a higher cost. Even if the US manages to prevent the reduction of global gas supply with LNG, prices will now be very high. But, for example, the two most important energy exporters to which EU can sell its services (Russia, Iran, and potentially Venezuela), are under embargo by the US, which is another energy exporter. The industry is largely under the control of US monopoly.

It is quite normal for the USA to profit from this global energy crisis. But claiming that this will also benefit Europe is a somewhat forced point of view, in my opinion.

Poland has one of the cheaper electric energy bills in Europe, and they use mainly coal to produce electric energy.

Negative side of USA geography is, it is far from the world major markets. US natural gas is always more expensive than Russa's. More expensive energy means everything from EU will be more expensive than that from China, who uses cheap Ruassian energy. Which puts EU in a very unfavorable situation. EU doesn't seem to have a good future. Maybe EU can build more nuclear power stations. But the constructions need at least 10 years. which is too long.

Other major US benefit is that Germany and the rest of Europe become totally subservient to the USA again like in the cold war.

the US can have natural gas reserves for a 1000 years.
transporting that gas to Europe to meet daily needs and getting at an affordable cost is completely different story altogether.
you require LNG infrastructure to meet it.
at the moment Europe requires 85 million tonnes, but US and Qatar can only supply 15 million, due to the LNG terminal infrastructure in place.

and Europe is not the only place that needs LNG.

there is great demand in places like Japan that will need US LNG as they have sanctioned the Russians.
and the costs of US LNG are going to render European industrial products uncompetitive in the global market. RIP German car industries.
