Pakistan needs to know how to play the game. Pentagon is one piece of the puzzle. If Pakistan wants F-16 they needs to work on the congressmen and senators. Spend right amount of money on lobbyist firms and US will be willing to sell F-35s to Pakistan. An average congressmen seat sells for a million dollars, Senator for 3 million. My US.Govt professor was a lobbyist by profession and part time govt teacher. You gotta be willing to wine and dine these politicians to get your way.

You actually replied back for one, I applaud you for standing up against criticism.

As for your comment, I already know about the "agreement", but what we've been hearing from Kabul and Washington is completely different to what the QCG has been talking about. Kabul and the white house keep trying to push Pakistan to take military action against the Afghan taliban, which would damage any chance of talks and political solutions. I must remind you, talking and fighting has been tried by the US and Afghanistan before, and no results came of it (even Pakistan tried and failed at it), and if Pakistan (as well as the QCG) must become an honest broker in these talks, neutrality must be preserved (which means a ceasefire should be, and probably is the first thing on their agenda. This also means that Pakistan cannot and should not take military action before talks are over, assuming they fail to achieve their goal).

I must also remind you, it is Pakistan that has been pushing for a coordinated border agreement, which Afghanistan continues to simply ignore. Take the recent border tensions, because Afghanistan refused to allow Pakistan to fence the border (even threatening military action), something that would have helped Afghanistan stem the flow of militants. Afghanistan still refuses to bolster border security, because of their delusional idea that the border doesn't exist and shouldn't exist at the Durand line. It is Pakistan, with it's hundreds of check points, that has had to take up the slack and keep the border secure, because Afghanistan refuses to cooperate.

When Pakistan launched ZeA, Afghanistan promised that it would coordinate on the Afghanistan side to stem the flow of retreating terrorists, yet we all know what happened: Afghanistan did nothing.

My point stands, Pakistan is a relatively stable nation, who's only threat to stability remains on its western border. You fix Afghanistan first, and you fix Pakistan automatically. Pakistan is willing to cooperate, as long as its interests are kept in mind, even Afghanistan's Ghani is as well; It's Afghanistan's real power brokers that are not.

f 16 is a seasoned fighter but there are other good decent fighters as well. we should keep it mind we are in need to replace over 190 fighters till 2020 let say. JF 17 cant fill that gap at the current rate of production. Pakistan should look for other options i know most of them are expensive but save some serious money or make money by selling jf 17 or trainers. We are in need of good jet fighter and in no.s. We cannot have this f16 drama anymore.
