BMC 585 HP 6-cylinder National commercial truck engine AZRA

BMC employs this 'engine' for which truck/bus? Is it commercially available? Where is a trasmission? Do you understand that there is a huge difference between a 500ph diesel engine and a 1500ph diesel engine?

I mean I don't understand, guys. Nothing adds up, but somehow you Turkish friends are very confident in something obviously impossible, but that's my opinion.

Shortage in supply firms impasse size of the business because it is in all kinds of shopping with each other in Turkey. Turkey has a lot of skilled workers in the automotive and likewise there are too many tests and centers of excellence. The BMC Power gearbox commissioned for the engine receives support from a British company and someones says that the engine it will develop will be based on a modified 1550BG version of the Fiat-Iveco V12 engine. In addition, Tumosan has engine and power group work up to 750 hp. Up to 450 hp is actively used in the modernization of M113s, and at the same time, the engine supplier was selected for Pars 6x6 and 8x8 to be purchased by the armed forces. It's normal that you don't see it on the official site because it's busy selling engines used in tractors for farmers, what will a civilian 450 hp engine do? That's why there is an engine section in Turkish forums and subtitles.
Korea has been in this business for a long time with companies such as Doosan and SK, and even so, it is the most normal thing in the world to worry about us if the gearbox is not liked, but Korea does not contact European companies as much as we do (especially in the automotive sector). Aside from the difficulty of the job, one of the reasons why too many companies do not develop this engine is that it will not do much better except for the tank. Much smaller or larger engines are preferred for situations such as Generator - Apu and nobody wants to deal with it.

Thank you for your information. Excuse my ignorance as I did not know that Tumosan manufactures indigenous diesel engines (again I am not sure about the transmission and I am not sure it is a verifiable fact) for tracters. However, if Tumosan has such diesel engines why do the most Turkish military armoured vehicles such as Nurol Ejder are equipped with American engines (again, a transmission is a big question mark).

Why Indonesian/Turkish Medium Tank Harimau/Kaplan MT is again equipped with American powerpack? It really doesn't make any sense to me if Turkey is really that capable of developing high grade engines & gearbox.

By the way, I think Korean companies have extensive relationship with European auto companies, but I believe that's beside the point (I believe their early vehicles were licensed Fiat and some companies basically manufacture MAN&Mercedes-Benz diesel engines) as even many European companies have failed to develop reliable powerpack, more specifically something that matches reliablity & power output of German powerpack.

Then again, Turkey could come up with something amazing as they did with UAV programs.

You can see Tumosan's existing engines and transmissions and what they want to improve. In addition to these, you can also see products such as differentials and transfer boxes. (Although our companies such as FNSS and Otokar - Otosan etc. also produce these vehicles). There is also the Pusat 4x4 armored vehicle, in which all these products are integrated but not ordered.

I wonder why the domestic power group is not used in vehicles like Ejder, and sometimes we discuss this in the Turkish Engine Programs section. Maybe they already Cummins and Allison in Turkey are fleeing the easy job because they produced. Bmc Azra plans to use it in Mrap like Kirpi - Vuran when the power group is finished. Harimau was a good question, but Turkey's already no one can offer to 700-1000 hp engine. There are prototypes of Tumosan and Bmc Power for 900-1000 hp, but they must mature. Also, these are designed to save the country from a possible embargo in the first place, it would be funny to think that Indonesia will choose us again when it has options like Catterpilar or Cummins-Deutz.

Mate, you almost got me there.

I checked on BMC's website and found out that

1. Tugra Road Truck
Uses a Cummins engine
https://bmctugra.com/upload/files/r...br-8x2-br-sleeper-cab_2019-02-20_16-03-11.pdf

2. Tugra Construction Truck
again uses a Cummins engine
https://bmctugra.com/upload/files/construction-truck-br-tgr-3540-br-6x4-_2019-02-20_15-59-49.pdf

3. Tugra Tractor
uses a Fiat engine
https://bmctugra.com/upload/files/t...-4x2-br-high-roof-std_2019-10-31_13-42-52.pdf

Mate, why did you lie to me when it was easily verified? I mean again there is a huge difference between ~500ph and a full-blown military-grade 1500 diesel engine. And of course there is an issue of transmission.

are you trolling or what ?

BMC develops 585 hp diesel engine to replace Cummins engine on Tugra Road Truck
as like KALE has developed KTJ-3200 turbojet engine for SOM Cruise Missile to replace French TRI-40 engine
in website , SOM missile use French TRI-40 engine .... but soon indigenous KTJ-3200 turbojet engine will replace French TRI-40 engine

585 hp BMC AZRA diesel engine will replace Cummins engine on Tugra Road Truck too

and BMC develops 380 , 1000 and 1500 hp engines for military projects
BMC Power develops engine and trasmission that the design and production is completely with domestic and national facilities.
so we have our own agenda year by year to solve engine problem in Turkish military project

also TUMOSAN 350hp and 530hp Turbo-diesel Engines for Military Vehicles

Thank you for sharing your information. I really appreciate it. However, the fact that Turkey has never made any serious effort to replace some of their existing fleets of armoured vehicles with American powertrain for indigenous powerpack makes me wonder if those so-called indigenous diesel engines & transmissions are in fact only exist in CAD & laboratory and never experienced years of proper field tests. I'd believe only when anything actually comes out in test fields. Even then, I don't think I have enough evidence that convince me that Turkey has resources to design & build a 1500hp diesel powerpack of which even more experienced countries have failed to develop at the moment.

However, it was nice talking with you. Thank you.

No, sir you are the one who has trolled me. I ask you if there was a real application that is commericially availalbe. You said BMC Turga and it actually uses a Cummins & Fiat engine. You should have said there is currently no application.

And dude, if it was alledgedly a ~500ph powerpack (which sounds very dubious) then why is it 'replacing' a 260ph Cummins engine? That absolutely makes no sense. I mean It would have been a little bit more convincing if you had insisted that the engine was for replacing a Fiat engine or for adding a new product with higher output to the existing range of trucks.

5 years? Why not now? Development of Altay was reportedly done at least a year ago. Everyones has seen that Turkey doesn’t have Plan B or C for their tanks. You can't just continue to kick the can down the road with building so much of hype, but without any meaningful result.

Anyway, it was nice to talk with you guys. Good night.

You should be a Chinese guy for trolling Turkish Engine projects for long time in Turkish section

BMC Power develops engines and trasmission to become fully independent on BMC military and commercial projects including TUGRA Road Truck , 8x8 Tank Transporter with 120 Ton gross combinated weight, KIRPI Mine Resistant Vehicle , ALTAY Tank , even BMC UTKU 1000 hp Engine for T-155 STORM Howitzer

but engine projects are still under development and nobody can develop 1500hp engine in a few years .... needs more time

btw right now Turkish Army can survive without ALTAY Tank .... Turkish Army has 160+ modernized M60-TM Tanks and Turkiye modernize Leopard2A4 Tanks

Good night.

What do you mean it was moved? As in relocated from World Affairs to Turkish Defence Forum?

I don’t know who moved it, but in general we prefer to keep military related stuff in their respective sections. Ertugrul, Tesla etc are not military topics so that’s probably why they were left in world affairs.

So all Pakistan military or Defence related threads should be in the relevant Pakistani military section, not the World Affairs section.

All Turkish Defence and military related topics should be in the Turkish Defence section, unless discussing something that involves other countries, like sales to Pakistan etc.

This has been the policy since the respective military sections were created. Trying to suggest that someone moved the thread because of ‘not wanting anything positive about Turkey’ or ‘systemic discrimination’ is just absurd.
I think this would be in world affairs as it is an international news about the growth of Turkish war industry.
