People are more important than stupid stones.

People don’t know the whole story about those statues. UN & Co., wanted to repair them and Mullah Omar said you should use the money to feed and help the people and UN was adamant they wanted to only work on statues. He got upset that more importance is given to some rocks than human flesh and blood and ordered it destroyed. After learning the full story I agree with the demolition of those stone statues.

These Hindutvadi scoundrels destuct a historical mosque, but are concerned about Bhudist statues, in Afghanistan. (Note: Bamyan stautes should not have been destructed; because of the associated religious sentiments of the Bhudist community.)

Yup there was drought in Afghanistan and the crops had failed and the usual suspects were petitioning the Taliban gov't to come in and do restoration work on the Buddhas to the tune of millions of dollars. Taliban's response was to provide humanitarian aid and food supplies instead. The usual suspects refused and the rest is history.

Might we also add that islam does not permit any sort of stone worshipping. Prioritising stones over a soul definitely wreaks of worshiping a stone.
I might not have phrased it well but i hope the point is conveyed.
