The Super Poor India

India has light years of catching up to do before it can call itself civilized. The divide between rich and poor is astronomical. You have hundreds of millions surviving in slums. You have a handful that are enjoying the economic boom. Talk about inequality.

India began its decline with the arrival of the Muslims.

I dont see any decline. Only see rise of India under foreign invaders. And fall under self reliance :D

Your name remind me of caste system. If you touch any upper caste he would probably beat you and go for a bath immediately. So much racism.

India's economy is growing and they have made good strides in tackling poverty, as proved by World Bank data and other human development markers.
Let's not use poverty as a mocking point.
Discuss solutions or roots of the problem if you must.

That's true, "middle class "is a relative term.

In my city Hong Kong for instance, which has nearly the highest property prices in the world, someone from the Indian "middle class" (i.e. someone above the Indian poverty line of around US $1-2 a day) wouldn't be able to survive at all. It wouldn't even cover the rent, let alone utilities and food.

They will also earn in local currency if they move there, wont they?? Say a plumber earning 2$ a day in mumbai will not earn the same in hongkong , no?

True enough, but it's difficult to get into Hong Kong.

You either need to be very highly skilled or invest around $1.5 million USD in our stock markets to qualify.

That will get you "residency", but not citizenship.

Everything is relative. Where you live is as important as how much you make. My brother lives in Hong Kong. I live in Las Vegas. He paid way more for his home than I did. But mine's 3900 sf single story with a huge yard and a pool. His is an apartment he had to wait a couple of years to get. Having the highest property values is not exactly a great indicator of the quality of life. It just means you live in a very crowded part of the world.

These threads are a reaction of non-stop hysterical reporting of Indians and their saffaron media about Pakistan from alleged 'beef masala' to 'Pakistan no place for envoys'. There was a recent report that number of illegal Indian immigrants to USA have surpassed those from Mexico and it is quite clear an indication of how prosper India has become or becoming. Media hype aside, India has a lot to do and by telling that everything is green in India is not flying.

You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.

The report regarding Indians being the largest group illegal immigrants defies the rules of mathematics. Undocumented Mexicans make up more than 50% of the total undocumented population of 11 to 12 million while the population undocumented Indians is around 450K. Indians only passed the Mexicans in world of Riaz Haq's blogs. In the real world, they're still a very small part of the undocumented population in the U.S. and still well behind Mexico and some Central American countries.

How does india defines it's middle class? I can bet Indian middle class is poorer than Pakistan's poor class.

Problem is that the Indian govt sees those who are barely earning a cent in India as poor and those that are earning more than a cent as middle class.

If you filter Indians who actually have a good life style and what would be called middle class by you and me, there's only about 60-70 million of those.

This is not MIDDLE CLASS , okay Indian?

Saddest part is that there is NOT EVEN A SINGLE parameter where Pakistan is ahead of India and these madrassa educated trolls have the audacity to open rubbish threads. I never see Indians opening up thread mocking Pakustanis when the latter are poorer, Hungrier and more destitute than us:hitwall:

For a person claiming to have an IQ of 160, your ability to read a chart is underwhelming.

Pakistan's IMPEX trade is 65 billion
India is one trillion.
