This is a fake quote and has been proven many times .

In my city Hong Kong for instance, which has nearly the highest property prices in the world, someone from the Indian "middle class" (i.e. someone above the Indian poverty line of around US $1-2 a day) wouldn't be able to survive at all. It wouldn't even cover the rent, let alone utilities and food.

You are comparing two entirely different places. A person living in that house in India would be considered poor. Most likely he/she owns this house, so there is no rent to pay. All other costs due to living in a village are extremely low too. I for one would not consider their quality of life poorer compared to living in pigeon hole like apartments in Hong Kong.

Even such amount of abject poverty does not deter world to invest billions of USD in India. Has the world gone mad? They should invest in the land of pure. Sure, they have a small problem of terrorism, but hey, who cares? Not all terrorists are bad:pakistan:

Yeah, they already did , $46 billion...

Which your politicians and people getting severe heartburn from

If you look at the first chart, you'll realize that while China started growing in 1980s and India in early 1990s, both the countries had the highest growth in their own history, yet while China managed to reduce the percentage of 'poor' people......in India it actually increased.

So even if you are growing fast, a deep portion of you population remains poor and will do so. Something is wrong.
You are Incorrect.

India's percentage of poor people has not increased, it has decreased albeit marginally in percentage terms because the population growth rate of India was high. So population growth rate and poverty reduction rate were nearly equal.

The percentage of Indians in the global poor rose - simply because China reduced poverty faster than India( strict family planning played a stellar role for China). So in absolute terms India reduced poverty, but India's share of poor in the world rose because China reduced poverty faster than India.

On the other hand, over the decades, now India's population growth rate is pretty decent(with a TFR lower than 2.5) and we are entering the start of another decade of high growth rate (this time surpassing China's growth rate ).

Which implies India's poverty reduction this coming decade will be much more than what we achieved in the last decade.

Yeah, yeah India is super poor while Pakistan is a country of super rich population!!It was India whose P.M. went to the I.M.F. and begged for a bail-out,it was India that received nearly $10 billions U.S. aid(Read alms) in the last decade, agains it was us who sent their soldiers to fight other's war in exchange for a few billions $;).Damn,India is really a dirt poor country, damn those heathens and Kuffars:hitwall:!!

Im talking about the general population, we all know India is cash cow for European nations... They can swindle you for many Defence deals... And you are proud of that

When India got freedom we had 65% people below poverty line and now we have 21%, no other place on this planet has uplifted so many people out from poverty.

It was 95% below poverty line in 1947.

When India got freedom we had 65% people below poverty line and now we have 21%, no other place on this planet has uplifted so many people out from poverty. Probably people fail to see that due to narrow motives and hateredness.

As per eminent Pakistani economist Dr. Ishrat Husain, Pakistan came from 45% below poverty to 20% below poverty during same period.

We are doing good and will be much better, let the people who want to play with numbers be happy with there numbers.

That's because India calculates poverty differently than Pakistan.

Even a poor farmer living on the street begging can be considered middle class by India. Actually anyone earning more than 10 Rs in India is middle class.

Apart from China, who has invested? Aid money does not count:disagree:

China investment is more than any investment we would dream to recieve from the world around..

In fact to match up to Pakistan you would need $276 billion investment. Can you guys do it?

This investment is almost 1/7th of Pakistans GDP . That's HUGE.
