I think this is symbolic. The Imperial Navy , it seems to me, is resurrected to almost par strength of her original potential. Before, in prior visits to Pearl Harbor, the Rising Sun would always be lowered upon entering Hawaii, out of respect. But i notice that now, there is a new stance by the JMSDF. I suppose this new policy change reflects a new organizational change for the Navy, and increased duty responsibilities , as well as a change in perception to war conflicts between Tokyo and Washington.
Pride in unfurling the colours of the Rising Sun. Why hide it? Right. Good to see this.
