The real Seoul story: At the NSG plenary, China behaved not as an enlightened power

Any honor went out the door with this pitiful remark that reflects the "holier than thou" mentality of most Indians.

My main aim to post this article was to clear the misinformation being spread within India by opposition and to make a under note that the real reason for Modi Govt to take up this effort in 2016 had a valid reason, which is of continuation of foreign policy rather than claim to fame as being suggested by certain quarters.

Seems the thread has gone to Cismoa et al and down some clause we have/will sign wrt USA.

Don't deny the fact the last line was a dampener, but given our bilateral relation and the fact this article itself is for Indian audience may be you could have given that one line your ignore mode.

Replace India with China in your post and u will get the more realistic scenario for future..

psst...most dictatorship don't last long enough, where as democracies flourish ;)
Oh? Every year 1500 farmers commit suicide democracy? Or 1/5 child malnutrition of democracy? Or 32 rupees a day poverty line of democracy? ... Oh, India...

We know exactly what's happening In India.
We don't hide these facts and we try our best to solve them.

China is a black hole. Even Chinese don't know what's happening in China except what the dictator says...

It's a blog, Hence a personal opinion of someone, Doesn't make it really a credible unbias source.. So there is a huge question mark on IF this actually is what happened in Seoul

Believe others have shown that MEA's statement and the facts mentioned match pretty well.

In addition going over your posts, it seems you are in a feeling that Indians are either hurt for this event or angry at Chinese etc

If you leave aside general public, one can note that MEA's statement says it all

"This means we re double our efforts"

Know this even if we end up getting this NSG seat or don't in near future, in a country's movement forward towards over all development these are just foot notes. I certainly don't think our Gov is sitting sulking some where in corner, it will keep doing what it does irrespective of others actions/feelings/comments.

That i believe is real politik.

One of few sane posts regrading NSG from Indian members!

In the past few day, we at PDF have witnessed the unbelievably emotional outbursts and uncontrollable China-bashing from our Indian friends, including many usually much more level-headed Elite Members. We can only imagine the amount of bitter bitching Indian media have put up for show, which is already famous for its sensationalism. So I guess NSG membership is really a huge deal for India.

From what we have read, India has already been enjoying the benefits of a NSG member without the membership, thanks to the US-India nuclear deal. The questions I would like to ask Indian members are: 1. How much of your anger is actually due to real needs to access nuclear tech, and how much is out of India's unique sense of Entitlement? 2. Just exactly why China should do you a big favor and bend the rules for India and India only?

Would you give more bullets to the neighbor with a gun aiming at you?

Can you please show me any sense of anger or whatever feeling you think we are in from our Gov? The MEA said we will redouble our efforts. I believe that sums it up well.

Oh, I'm sorry, we know too much, since the qin dynasty, we knew that how to deal with their own government... But India people don't know, because India is slavery. Once the Indian farmers can only despair to suicide. We don't have such a coward behavior.

Basically, India sold their sovereignty to America by agreeing to sign the CISMOA/LSA which would allow American troops to operate out of Indian soil, in exchange for the NSG seat.

India, US agree on logistics agreement, to be signed in a month - The Hindu

But they seriously overestimated America's ability to deliver the NSG seat. As they found out recently.

It seems India has no idea of what "veto power" means. It means we can shut it down anytime, for any reason. In fact we don't even need to give a reason.

India paid out of their nose for US support, but they did not give a similar payment to us, so they didn't get anything in return.

What crap?

Do you know what CISMOA is?

CISMOA stands for Communication and Information Security Memorandum Agreement.

This agreement would allow the interoperability of India and United States equipments.
By interoperability, we mean that there would be access to encrypted and secret technologies or communications.
We note here that so far United States has blocked sale of some of the advanced technologies and sensitive equipments to India on account of non-signing this agreement.
Signing this agreement would help because such advanced technologies and sensitive equipments are generally installed on US procured systems only. This agreement could also be important for multinational operations related to rescue, disaster relief etc.

Now what is LSA???

LSA refers to Logistics Support Agreement. This agreement would enable mutual exchange of logistics support, supplies and services (LSSS) between the defense forces of both countries. Here we note that United States has signed a so called Acquisition and Cross-Servicing Agreement (ACSA) with NATO countries. Such agreements have also been signed with Afghanistan and Sri Lanka in our neighbourhood.

These 2 would enable technology transfer, logistics and seamless communication between military systems of the two countries.
Further, the LSA would also help India to deal with 21st century challenges more efficiently by correcting the deficiencies in logistics. It would help them to share their experience and strengthen their operational capabilities in joint military exercises, training, and defence equipment sales.

It’s worth note here that India has gained from the US experience in handling cyber terrorism, conducting rescue and relief operations during natural disasters, dealing with improvised explosive devices etc.
The US has also benefited from the Indian experience of fighting on various terrains, dealing with ethnic conflicts, international peacekeeping etc. Further, these agreements also have economic benefits. They would enable cashless supplies to each other’s armed forces on credit.

So dont ever in another post bring out these crap of sovereignty and all just to garner some thankclicks from mindless senseless ones...

Grow up.

Have followed the news and discussion for more than 3 weeks now and my views are:-

1) Next meeting India will be NSG member.
2) Modi forced China to show their card. It makes things easy for India.
3) People in India who supported China over USA would now be shoved in the dustbin. Indian media will harp this instance for ages to come.
4) Trade with China will nose dive. No more telecom company contracts to Chinese Company, even when cost is higher. Long term operating cost will be less.

Overall very good for Indian economy ......however I will not be surprised backward bending by CHINA to appease India, including going slow on Pakistani projects.

From the first link I posted in this thread:

India, US agree on logistics agreement, to be signed in a month - The Hindu

Militaries of US, India to share their facilities

In a significant decision that could have far-reaching implications for India’s military posture, India and the U.S. have agreed “in principle” on a logistics support agreement — the first proposed in 2004 and resisted by the UPA government for a decade — that would make it easier for both militaries to share each other’s facilities.

The Logistics Exchange Memorandum of Agreement (LEMOA) was the highlight of U.S. Defence Secretary Ash Carter’s three-day visit to India, which began in Goa on Sunday.

Besides LEMOA, Mr. Carter and his Indian counterpart Manohar Parrikar announced initiatives to strengthen the growing strategic partnership.

“Secretary Carter and I agreed in principle to conclude a Logistics Exchange Memorandum of Agreement (LEMOA) in the coming months,” Mr. Parrikar said. “The draft of LEMOA will be ready in a month, if not weeks.”

Seeing American soldiers operating out of Indian military bases, isn't this what India has always mocked other countries for?

.
Wrong New Zealand, Ireland, Turkey and Austria were opposed to it from the start and would have never weivered from the NPT

Not really why would anyone else whinge when it was India that failed, If at all they would celebrate

For MEA it was just one nation that put procedural obstacles in our path .
So you can understand the future factors that influence our MEA policy making .

Finally someone summarises the whole issue succinctly!! Exactly my views as well.

China needs a very tight slap. That's all.

Well, while our Indian friends are "struggling in convincing themselves their "NSG Dreams" is still as real as it can get
You keep spoiling their party with your "OBSESSIVE BITCH SLAP" one liner as usual
Oh well, at least this time for a change with NEW "TIGHT SLAP" only:sarcastic:

.
LOL, only a few days ago all the Indian members were boasting that China does not have the guts to block India's NSG bid. And boasting about India's diplomatic victory as if they had already been given the NSG seat.

And I'll say the exact same thing I said back then, do you know what a veto is?

Just use your brain. And stop counting your chickens before they have hatched.

LMAO this is too funny, these Indians think that they earned a head nod from US regarding NSG and it's China's time to do them some favor in order to keep Indian happy, neutral and not tilt toward US or else they can repeat the military exercise with US and Japan in Pacific to sent a strong message to China as last time:rofl:, they have made a terrible miscalculation, not only China has given India a slapped face but to US at the same time, we tell Americans that they're not longer in charge of NSG.

In all this NSG affaire, US expect that if China don't grant the favor to India, US think to be the winner because China's veto will definitely anger India and push India more toward US , China is well aware of how this game is played and the plot behind this NSG diplomacy but China is not afraid to send a message to India that we're un-deterred regarding any eventually and to show Americans at the same time that if they don't know how to lead the international issue then take the back seat , the world is looking a new leader, China can be very well a contender

remember this for Chinese crisis = opportunity
