The real Seoul story: At the NSG plenary, China behaved not as an enlightened power

.
You missed the "strong mining lobby"..why would they not overturn the Australian parliament, the Australian people for the sake of continous exports to the chinese..when they so easily could do it in the case of India..buddy, you are bordering on the realm of absurdity in your obvious bias.

China is a member of the NSG, What are you on about ? How can the Australian legislature oppose exports to a member of the NSG ? India despite not being signatory to the NPT, In order to get a waiver it had to go through opposition.. Mate the world does'nt work according to your whims and fancies, It was the same reason that India's attempt to to get in to the NSG this time failed, Also dont forget the NSG was formed as a deterrent to India's nuclear tests, You reckon in such a case the Australian parliament had an easy path to convince it's people ?

Like i said it's futile to make sense to people who're still smarting from this fiasco and very bitter.. Prolly a couple of weeks might clear some heads.. Or not.. tah

.
Thats also fine.. There are no permanent friends or foes in world politics i'm in complete agreement with you,

Thats exactly how the US hit a home run from this whole NSG fiasco, They promoted India knowing very well that China and few other countries wont waiver protocol that they the US themselves set in the NSG admission, They knew India will never get the nod, So they duped India though their campaign, India was left battered and bruised diplomatically, China was made to be the bad guy and created a further rift between India and China at a time when there is power play in the SCS and the US attempts of establishing a military foothold in South Asia.. Again the super power wins

Were you dropped on you head or what? You are repeating same nonsense again and again in different threads.

You are behaving as if all Chinese including their governments are brainless bots bereft of any free agency and thus were completely outfoxed by Americans and it was Americans who voted on their behalf!!

Why should we care what game USA has played? It is China's vote and they are free to vote any way. By voting against us, they lay all their cards on the table. We are forcing everyone to show their hand on this issue.

Voting against India ,when they would vote against India, is/would be sole decision of Chinese based on their free will, and voting against India would make China's stance clear and would give India a causus-belli to act against Chinese interests. It is similar to India objecting against CPEC, demanding Chinese to get out of Pakistan occupied Kashmir. Chinese certainly did not obliged India, but by ignoring India's objection for CPEC they also lost grounds for asking India to stay out of disputed areas in SCS (and India today drill for Oil in SCS).

Similarly, What diplomatic defeat? Do you even know the meaning of this term? India gained conditional support of 47 out of 48 countries. That is no defeat. In an organization where everyone has veto ,an obdurate member could hold whole organization hostage and could veto ,anything and everything ,without rhyme and reason. Being forced to veto in face of overwhelming support is not a win for any country(China). Had India not been able to garner support of majority, it would have been a diplomatic defeat, not this. This stance of China has only served to project that it is scared shitless of India's rise and progress. Nothing less, Nothing more. It has tried to block Indian membership by using three different frivolous methods (and failed) to the point of being transparently changing the paradigm from "India trying to get into a group" to "China blocking India from getting into a group".

Lol dude. .you are all over the place, I guess I went a bit too ahead then you currently are arguing from...I don't think I have the patience to explain it from the moment you dragged the mining lobby and the australian people and the Australian parliament into the mix.

India did real diplomacy there, if you actually followed the bilateral engagements and numerous meetings that India engaged in convincing the Australians was nearly as tough as was convincing the Canadians.

Now both these states are one of the strongest proponents of India, apart from the Americans, the French, the Russians and the brits.

Australia exports a lot of different ore - apart from uranium to the Chinese. .The anti chinese Australian stance was hotly discussed in Australian circles for a year or two..and there were supporters at both sides.
But in the end, the Australians are part of the anti chinese alliance.

If as you suggested..that the mining lobby was so strong in influencing the parliament into supporting India. ...you should wonder why they couldn't overturn the anti chinese alliance which happens to be their biggest buyer..logic fail.

It seems India has no idea of what "veto power" means. It means we can shut it down anytime, for any reason. In fact we don't even need to give a reason.

India knows what "veto power" means. Look like you do not have understanding of what "power" means.

Do you not even read your own news?

India, US agree on logistics agreement, to be signed in a month - The Hindu

(Which allows American troops to use Indian military bases.)

Modi-Carter_2811944g.jpg

It is not yet signed. We are buying Rafale also from ages but have we bought it ?? There is a difference btw will be signed and signed.

This thread is already been derailed by veto carrying chinese and a smart *** high school graduate sri-lankan..... sorry australian.

What China did was what it thought were in its national interest. India should do what it thinks is in its national interest. The quest for NSG, and UNSC by India will continue. India wants a place on high table and China will deny India that. China thinks that India is its rival. So India has a big task on its hand on convincing China to relent.

One of few sane posts regrading NSG from Indian members!

In the past few day, we at PDF have witnessed the unbelievably emotional outbursts and uncontrollable China-bashing from our Indian friends, including many usually much more level-headed Elite Members. We can only imagine the amount of bitter bitching Indian media have put up for show, which is already famous for its sensationalism. So I guess NSG membership is really a huge deal for India.

From what we have read, India has already been enjoying the benefits of a NSG member without the membership, thanks to the US-India nuclear deal. The questions I would like to ask Indian members are: 1. How much of your anger is actually due to real needs to access nuclear tech, and how much is out of India's unique sense of Entitlement? 2. Just exactly why China should do you a big favor and bend the rules for India and India only?

Would you give more bullets to the neighbor with a gun aiming at you?

.
LOL, only a few days ago all the Indian members were boasting that China does not have the guts to block India's NSG bid. And boasting about India's diplomatic victory as if they had already been given the NSG seat.

And I'll say the exact same thing I said back then, do you know what a veto is?

Just use your brain. And stop counting your chickens before they have hatched.

Sometimes, I get the sense that there are two "Worlds" on the planet, one is call "the World", the other is called "Indian World". A couple days ago, an Indian Elite Member was telling us the successful launch of an Indian rocket carrying 20 satellites "show the world Who is the BOSS of rocketry". Incredible indeed!

He claimed that by 2020, Indian would have a 132 exaflop super-supercomputer, while Americans are hard at work to put a 300 Pflop machine together by 2018. What is interesting is he could be considered as a member of cream of crop in India society (judging from his self disclosed income), one can just be wondering the rest of the society.

In generally, Indians have an extraordinary level of optimism, and unparalleled patriotism. We Chinese do need to learn from them. We criticize our own country too much and way too pessimistic.

Well sir, we Indians have multiple "opinions" on multiple things, unlike some countries where having a different opinion means you will vanish without a trace.

You lot don't even have opinions, except one parroted by some guy in a room and you recite it all over.
Good luck with that ;)
