What's new

The Mosul operation

Which could be reversed after IS is dealt with, especially given that there are still Iraqi forces/PMF in central Kerkuk, they have a ground link to ISF area's and that is only to increase after the Hawija operation. This is why they're afraid, and say the ISF/PMF were to push north towards Kerkuk in large numbers. I don't see what Kurds could do about it, the PUK doesn't have the weapons the coalition provided either. All those weapons went to barzani.. hence they dig trenches all day.
Do you know the opinion of Turkmens in Kirkuk ?

We had a Turkmen member from Kırkuk (Atilla Orankay if i don't recall wrong) he was very upset about Kirkuk falling into KRG hands.

Turkmens formed the 16th(Kerkuk), 52th(Kerkuk) and 92th(Tal Afar) brigade in the PMF which are Turkmen brigades by majority (with Arabs). Last year kurds started to kill and destroy Turkmen property in Toz Khormato, they tried passing it off as rioting Kurds but they were the PUK merga themselves given that tanks had fired as well. This seems to have come to stop since Iraqi police were dispatched to the town, but as time goes by these Kurds get in a more vulnerable position. The ISF and PMF are still very busy with IS in Mosul and Anbar. Turkmen groups in the PMF currently have enough power to keep the current situation as it is, to change it they'll have to wait for the ISF and PMF to free up forces from the IS campaign.

Whatever happens, I can't say yet but for sure the ISF/PMF/non Kurds over there will be in a stronger position against the PUK after Mosul and Hawija are taken care off. Kurdish forces aren't as capable as the media made them, they received the most intense air support from the coalition and have JTAC's (US Special forces) embedded with them yet they barely managed to clear anything, they took a year for Sinjar and that with YPG help.

16th brigade FB (this group has 4000 fighters).

This Haşdi şabi and 16. Turkmen Batallion is the same thing ?

Hashd Shaabi (PMF) is a gov organization under which dozens of groups operate, these groups obey the gov through top PMF leaders who are tied to the gov. But each of these groups have their own leader. Kataib hezbollah, Asaib Ahl al Haq, 16th Turkmen brigade, NPU (Nineveh Plain protection units), they're Christians/Assyrians. All of these are under the PMF, they follow gov policy in the large scheme of things but given that they have their own leaders they are independent to a certain degree. Many of these armed groups are still very politicized.

For now, you can regard the PMF like a gov umbrella for all these groups. They're not all the same, some are hostile to the US (and Turkey) and some aren't.. but they seem to respect gov devisions for the most part.

I don't know if all the info here is true, but some is. If correct, 30K Turkmen forces in the PMF within the 4 brigades. Doesn't include army numbers.

^^ Could say that these Turkmen units don't exactly like Erdogan but they wouldn't step on that flag

We never threaten Iraq with war......But Abadi did it twice.

There is a military movement in Turkey and Iraqi prime minister threatens Turkey with war.....How logical is that ?
its very logical. why do you not see foreign troops presence in sovereign country as a violation of that country and that country has a right to do anything to those foreign troops? i dont get your logic. Iraq can tell your Turkish troops in Iraq anything they want. go back home if tehy ask you to. NO, but Turkey has other agendas. Turkey has big problems in IRaq, now Turkey wants to make them worse? go ahead!
