Even in a third world country like Bangladesh, which is not a model for any country in terms of economic development, there were some parties that protested against Americans and Indians' visit to Bangladesh.

I vehemently oppose the so called seculars, leftists and similar minded people, but if they can protest against USA and India, why can not Saudis and other Arabs? Not every Arab is going to take up arms to fight against American terrorist military, so there had better be some room for protests.

In my view, no Muslim majority country should pay any heed to devilish Western countries on their domestic demands. The Muslim population should determine, through government systems prescribed in Islam, how Muslims should run their affairs.

Saudi Arabia is not the only country that experienced economic change across generations, most countries around the world did so. In the Middle East, excluding Iran since Saudis hate Iran due to the sectarian outlook, you can also look at Turkey under Erdogan to decide how its people have experienced economic change in less than a decade. Granted, it's not a perfect example, but within the Middle East, there are not many examples to be provided since most of them are secular and/or pro Western dictatorships.

As expected, my favourite Muslim country Indonesia ranks high. A secular, democratic and progressive country. That is how all Islamic nations should be.

The only reason why authoritarian governments like Qatar or Bahrain is doing so well is because of their oil resources and OPEC. Other Muslim nations do not have that advantage. Thus, we must be fair in comparison (some people will use this point to say democracy is bad, sitting in comfort of secular democratic and infidel kafir nations).

Another problem at this ranking is that some countries have sham democracies. Such as pakistan, the democracy is basically non-functional due to corruption and mismanagement.

"Mildly authoritarian" patriotic leaders like Tun Dr Mahathir Muhammad was far more beneficial to Malaysia than any democratic parties have been for Indonesia, Bangladesh or Pakistan, in terms of improvements of economic, industrial, scientific and living standards. Both Malaysians and Indonesians know very well the limitations and the successes of their own respective countries. Malaysia plans to join the "developed world" by 2020, while Indonesia, due partly to its great size, would probably become a big player on the international scene.

In terms of scientific research and development, Iran and Malaysia, both of which are more "Islamic" than secular Indonesia still comfortably outdo much more populous Bangladesh or Indonesia, both of which are secular countries. I like all Muslim countries including Indonesia, but as many Indonesians already regularly complain about, their government needs to address various issues on their domestic front at this time.

You will not find a country in the entire world that does not infringe on your personal life. For example, here in Canada I can't just go out in public naked! Its considered public indecency, while in SA has a different public indecency definition. Also, you can't smoke marijuana in your own house even though its less harmful than alcohol and non of the government's business. You will not find any country in the world that doesn't infringe in your personal freedom one way or another, but to request that we mass import western ethics is unacceptable. Aren't Saudi citizens paid benefits for studying, marriage, unemployment and other reasons? How can you be so sure he is not paid by the government? And the mass importation of Jewish Hollywood shows without any reciprocation is the direct result of the King of Saudi Arabia's servile attitude to the West, is not it? Anything is possible in democratic countries as long as the people want it and as long as the people/gov't is capable of doing it. If the majority of the people call for mass murder, that is also acceptable in democracy. That is the essence of democracy, which is why democracy in itself is no panacea, but better than one-man secular dictatorships, or "kings" and "queens" working against Islam to serve their Western masters.
