সরকারের মেয়াদের শেষ সময়ে জামায়াত-শিবিরের রাজনীতি প্রাসঙ্গিক হয়ে উঠলো প্রশাসনিক অনুমতির মাধ্যমে। দীর্ঘ ১০ বছর ধরে তাদেরকে কর্মসূচির অনুমোদন না দিয়ে সরকারের খুব বেশি লাভ হচ্ছিলো না। তারাও একটি ছুতো খুঁজছিলো জামায়াত-শিবিরকে রাজনীতি করার সুযোগ করে দিতে। মার্কিন ভিসা নীতি উভয়ের জন্য উইন উইন সিচুয়েশন তৈরি করে দিলো। যেহেতু এতো বড় একটি জনগোষ্ঠীকে দ'মন-পী'ড়ন করেও তাদেরকে রাজনৈতিক কার্যক্রম থেকে থামানো যাচ্ছিলোনা। আবার ইসলামি দল হলেও জামায়াতের আন্তর্জাতিক যোগাযোগ ভাল হওয়ায় তাদেরকে জ''ঙ্গি বানিয়ে আন্তর্জাতিক বিশ্বকে ভুল বোঝানোও যাচ্ছিলোনা। সবমিলিয়ে সরকার জামায়াতকে মাঠে নামার সুযোগ তৈরি করে দিয়ে হাঁফ ছেড়ে বাঁচলো।

কেন বলছি সরকার হাঁফ ছেড়ে বাঁচলো? জামায়াতকে যদি রাজনীতির বাইরে রেখে সরকার পরিবর্তন হতো, তাহলে পট পরিবর্তনের সাথে সাথে ক্ষো'ভের বহিঃপ্রকাশ ঘটার সম্ভাবনা ছিলো। কিন্তু মাঠে নামতে পারার কারণে কিছুটা হলেও ক্ষো'ভ প্রশমিত হবে। অর্থাৎ সরকার বর্তমানে যতো প্রতি'হিং'সা'পরায়ণ কম হবে, বিদায় হলে ক্ষমতাসীন দলের ক্ষ'য়'ক্ষ'তি ততো কম হবে। এই মুহুর্তে সরকার যদি বেগম খালেদা জিয়াকে রাজনীতিতে প্রাসঙ্গিক করে তোলে অর্থাৎ তাকে গৃহবন্দী করে না রেখে রাজনীতি করার, মিছিল মিটিং এ বক্তব্য দেওয়ার ক্ষেত্র তৈরি করে দেয়, সেটি ক্ষমতাসীনদের জন্য ভাল হবে। অন্যথায় বেগম খালেদা জিয়াকে গৃহবন্দী রেখে ক্ষমতা পালাবদল হলে বিএনপির নেতাকর্মীদের ক্ষো'ভকে ট্যাকেল দেওয়া কঠিন হবে। সরকার যতো তাড়াতাড়ি বোগম খালেদা জিয়াকে রাজনীতিতে প্রাসঙ্গিক হওয়ার ক্ষেত্র তৈরি করবে, ততোই তাদের জন্য মঙ্গল হবে।

পরিশেষে, জামায়াত নিঃশেষ হয়ে গেলে আওয়ামীলীগের রাজনীতি বলে কিছু থাকবেনা। আওয়ালীগের রাজনীতি স্বাধীনতার স্বপক্ষের শক্তি হিসেবে নিজেদের দাবি করা। এতোদিন জামায়াত বিএনপির জোটে থাকায় বিএনপি-জামায়াতকে স্বাধীনতা বিরোধী তকমা দিয়ে সেই রাজনীতি আওয়ামীলীগ করে যেতে পারছিলো। কিন্তু বিএনপি জামায়াত জোট আর না থাকায়, আওয়ামীলীগ সেই রাজনীতি করতে পারছিলোনা। বরং জামায়াত মাঠে নামার ক্ষেত্র তৈরি হওয়ায়, আওয়ামীলীগের স্বাধীনতার স্বপক্ষের বয়ানের রাজনীতির ভিত্তি কিছুটা হলেও রক্ষা পেলো! এখন মিছিল মিটিংয়ে আওয়ামীলীগ নেতারা গরম গরম বক্তব্য দিতে পারবে! এতে তাদের মৃ'ত'প্রা'য় রাজনীতি কিছুটা হলেও মু'মূ'র্ষু রো'গী'র মত জীবিত থাকবে!
