Payments of ships to cross Canal Istanbul will never compensate it's constructions costs including the costs for bridges. US and Romania are investing in Alexandroupolis port, they are looking for alternatives. Traffic in Bosphorus is declining and Russia will anyways use the Arctic route soon.
If Turkey is really afraid of Petrochemical accidents in Marmara... then why not reviving the Samsun-Ceyhan pipeline project and connecting it with Russia? For sure the safer and most time effective solution.
Merchant companies gladly pay for Suez and Panama since it spares them thousand of miles but Canal Istanbul?
So protecting the buildings but wiping out X km² forrests and fertile land... look you may think i'm against everything Erdogan is doing, i'm not.
But there are "kazik" projects like Russian owned Akkuyu nuclear plant, Osman Gazi "kazik" bridge and now Canal Istanbul "kazik" project.
There are many other things that need investments such as Agriculture, Energy alternatives, Military and Infrastructure.
You talk about forecasts while completely ignoring the reality so far which is much worse than 2008 crisis for Turkey, are you even aware that Turkey lost a whole decade even with those optimistic forecasts?...Is the economy really dying with growth forecasts like these ?

Turkey will catch up with the GDP of 2013 only in 2022, if those forcasts are true to begin with, but uhh look at those forecasts, great isnt it?...
and every forecast hints at growth are these now all false ?if those forcasts are true to begin
I usually don’t watch these propaganda stuffs...@Hakikat ve Hikmet can you explain me all this ? The video is in turkish buddy.
Secondly, what is US stance on this oroject and what is PT erdogan’s plan.
How is this helpful for usa and turkey ?
If you are happy with the situation then fine by me buddy, just hope that those moronic head of state dont do another screw up which will cost another year of growth, may 2020 bring a growth above 2% at least...Ur right with the lost decade but u wrote : "dying turkish economy" but everything right now hints at growth and a typical and expected response from u now was and every forecast hints at growth are these now all false ?
1.The number of ships passing through the straits decreased. Thanks to new pipelines.
https://www.utikad.org.tr/Detay/Sektor-Haberleri/12702/bogazlardan-gecen-gemi-sayisi-azaldi
2. Last year, 45 thousand 529 ships, 8 thousand 745 of which were tankers, crossed the Bosphorus.
3. If you closed the strait and forced all 45000 ships to use new canal and everyship paid 160.000usd passing fee, you would reach your target revenue of your investment : 6 billion USD per year.
No one can close the strait and none of ships won't pay any 160.000usd moreover new channel length is 45km which is longer than Istanbul strait is 29km.
For what who would pay 160.000usd volunteerly when there was an open and free strait.?
Bütün bu yazılardan sonra bu mudur anladığın?How you mean because of new pipes? Which pipes you mean? Gas to Europe? First of all most of the tankers are oil tankers and EU is not the only custommer of Russia. Secondly, you indicate that the number of ships that have passed through Istanbul has decreased. It was 40k in 2017 and 45k in 2018. If you look at the number of tankers, the numbers continue to vary slightly, but there is certainly no drastic drops as you try to indicate. Thirdly, Russia is not only an exporting country but also imports goods from all over the world. This also applies to neighboring countries of the Black Sea.
Bosphorus strait is very tight at some points and requires large ships to do dangerous maneuvers. This is also the reason why the percentages of giant container ships do not rise. The new channel will change this.
Bütün bu yazılardan sonra bu mudur anladığın?
You can not close the İstanbul strait!!!!!!! You can not stop international sea transport. You can not make any ship delay.
Noone will pay to your canal 160k for nothing!!
Hazards??? İstanbul strait wide is min 690meter. New canal is 200 meters.
You are going to settle 500.000 people on both side of channel. And you are going to built high big buildings near the new channel. Which would be more dangerous if there were any explosion? 200 meter or 690 meters.
Once there was an accident. A oil ship exploded and nothing happened . So your argument about hazard is bullshit.
This project is not economically effeccient. Dead born. This is waste of money of Turkish taxpayers. Don't waste our money. İ pay fucking taxes to my country despite all of you who live and pay taxes in Europe. İt is the matter of money. İ don't want some politicians milk my money.
10billion dollar would strength Turkish Army. If you are all Turkish patriots let's allocate additional 10 billion USD to defense budget.
Kanal İstanbul is Erdoğan's construction project there is nothing related with transport of ships.
Why should we be against a project that would benefit Turkey, but this project is not one of them.
You ever heard one of us complaining about investment in Defence?
Not even a single shame about writing this.
Until now, CHP has always criticized the policies that were in favor of Turkey's interests. They are practically against all military actions carried out in northern Syria. They are also against gas explorations of Turkey. They cannot stand the fact that Turkey is becoming increasingly powerful. Always be on PKK's side. Always criticize or thwart everything that the government comes with. What are you guys good at? Tell me what are you good at?
