Since you would like to know then i will tell you...... this theory or rather an excuse is often put up by the Indian members......if the PA was providing a so called covering fire, isn't that like sending a fax to the Indians telling them an infiltration is going to take place. !!

We know once some Indian soldiers accidentally triggered a mine on their side and all hell broke loose, after claims and counter claims it became apparent the most likely cause of the firing was due to the blast, each side thinking other had fired a mortar shell or something.

While that may explain an odd case, it is not very likely to explain the large number of cases. I'm aware there well might be local reasons for any firing to be initiated but the logic that I based my question on, still holds. The IA has no real reason to initiate any firing (as a rule) since the status quo position on the ground is not sought to be changed by it. I'm sure you agree that there is more likelihood of action from those wishing for a change to the status quo.
